Top ten ranks are essential, even with so many series ranked. Consistently placing in the front half of the magazine is the only way to ensure continued serialization. When the magazine is as crowded as it is that only means the occasional dalliance in the back of the magazine is not a disaster, as long as a series spends the majority of it's time in the top ten.
Yes but the first half of the magazine is a top 10 within all the series (ie counting color pages and non ranked) which is not what is done here. Pakki, being place before the last color page has a good rank this week but so far its ranks were not to worrisome.
WSJ Cover #15:
If Hunter x Hunter does not go into hiatus after chapter 340, is it safe to consider that Hunter is not an irregular serialization anymore, or should still consider as irregular serializing series?
I don't think that matters at all....if it stays it stays, if not well...
I think the correct thing to think here would be to assume HxH is still getting special treatment. The only time we can know for sure that it's treated as a regular serialization is the moment it's cancelled.
Hunter x Hunter probably won't go on hiatus until Dragon Quest X comes out. Then it'll be on hiatus forever because DQX is an MMO.
Well since this is the longest HXH has been published straight without (author) breaks I think its fair to say its now regularly published, I don´t think Shueisha would have let Togashi begin a new arc without some sort of promise or something that Togashi is doing ok and that maybe he will have some chapters with sloopy art (like past week) but he will work weekly.
i thought you're safe as long as you sell around 500,000 per volume? that's what's in bakuman, right?
hxh is never gonna get cancelled, what with the sales it gets.
I echo the sentiments about HXH not getting cancelled no matter how low it ranks. Togashi and WSJ have a long relationship, and he worked his ass off with Yu Yu Hakusho so there is a certain privilege he has earned. I'm sure if Oda or Kishimoto has a new series, they'll be treated similarly as well.
It's kind of nostalgic to see the top 3 in that order; I'm still amused Magico is still going strong; boo at Sket being in the bottom half.
Agreed. There is no way Hunter x Hunter is canceled, it's a classic and one of the magazines most popular titles. Nor will it ever switch magazines.
We'll know if it Togashi is taking another break next week. If he is it will likely say at the end of the next chapter. I hope not, being able to read Hunter x Hunter every week has been such a treat. The art was back to form this week too, not sure if that means anything though.
I don't think anybody fears Hunter x Hunter being cancelled, rather than going on hiatus. I think its TOC place corresponds more or less to the number of votes like other series but similar to Mago and Kochikame it has no impact wrt cancellation.

Are there some people actually think Hunter x Hunter going to get cancelled?
