How do you see The Breaker (Part 1 & 2) in terms of consistency of power levels, plot, characters, etc.
The Breaker is very consistent if you ask me. We haven't seen Shioon getting a mid-battle power-up and overwhelming his opponents. All his battles with stronger opponents like So-Chun or Ji-Gun have marked by growth in his character. We didn't see miracles happening in most of the battles. Similarly, the plot is progressing / developing more realistically. In most of series, Shioon might have recovered / repaired his Ki center. Yet, in The Breaker, he regained his will and he is recovering more steadily.
What are your thoughts?
My initial thoughts are as you have stated. I think everyone knows that his ki center will be repaired eventually and hope that it happens soon. I personally would like to see Shioon improve his body continually and because his body and blood is saturated with ki he just becomes a monster physically. Even not concentrating ki in any one place within the body.
As for the progression of Shioon. If he owns these leaders of SUC then I think his progression is too unreal. A little meditation and tada you are master class. But I in general have little problems with that because we know somewhere along the way he and 9AD will clash. And Shioon will need to be a master of masters like 9AD.
u say a little meditation but Sera said even after 10years some peeps can't master it. So yeah it's not a little meditation.I won't be surprised if he reach the level of a SUC master if he keep training like that and if he recover his KI center, i think the author made him loose his KI center so that'll make some kind of weakness and he won't progress too fast. Actually i like the current pace, to me it'll take him the whole part2 to recover his KI center and to become a real murim and the real thing will start in the part3 of the breaker.
The whole genius thing with Shion kinda irks me, but that's not a big deal.
I do like how the entire narrative feels more tightly woven. from what I've heard the authors plan on making this a 3 part series and it shows. You can tell that character appearances and actions are intentional. That's opposed to a series like Bleach or Naruto, which I still love but a lot of the plot twists suffer from the effects of any ongoing serialized series in that what's initially planned out changes dramatically after a decade's worth of material.
befoe 9AD lost it on the roof I sometimes felt Shiion's development was progressing too rapidly and easily as I had marked for myself Son Yun Chuk as the most likely endfight opponent for him. It seemed silly and cheasy how he first barely prevailed by impressing the far superior genius by nothing but his spirit alone, only to then bit by bit be revealed to have similar genius traits when it comes to picking up and using high level techniques. However once it dawned on me that in the end he would be the one to face his master to save him I daresay I'm ok with his own genius status - the more so as there also was ample consistency in giving a couple of hints that the black heaven hax techique will put Shiion's sanity at risk, too.
I expect this arc to bring out the blood and bones clan of the background though I don't think they will be the main antagonist in this - more so something to give more background to the whole Ki/pill medicine angle... It also won't be defeat S.U.C yet, maybe the five leaders will get it this arc but it was already hinted they are more or less pawns, too. Rather I think the main clash will be with heavenly way school and shiion's task there is to get Son-Yun Chuk to join the good guys - or at least that is what I would expect of staying "consistent" in not overdoing it with multiple antagonist groups at the same time.
The overal picture would be Shiion interacting with more and more main clans of the murin and gaining supporters and followers from each of them so that by the time the Alliance falls into utter chaos when 9AD really goes and accepts SUCs offer there will be an opposing coalition forming up behind the Sun-Woo Clan led by Shiion's spirit of pure good will. Master will be the "breaker" that shatters the murin world and it is Shiion who has to come up with a good alternative for the world of new waves - though I guess that is for part three, that info was new to me but sounds good to me with regard to long term plot planning
Sound a bit cliche but there ya go XD
