I was badly influenced by this:
Seeing the picture, all Leorio did is giving a weak punch to a strong nen user. It's not that impressive. So, it's believable.Quote:
But still, I will wait for the full raw because it's one hell of a surprise
Ok, let's start with the concept of Nen again. We all know that every Nen user develops his Nen in accordance with his character or mindset. For example Gon's ability, to you, it doesn't seem to be interesting but to me his ability is just a reflection of his character. He is a kid with a mindset of one just like Netero who prayed every single day his Hyakku Kanon and the royal guards especially, Pufu and their abilities match their personalities like chalk and cheese. But Leorio's ability on the other hand doesn't match his mindset of becoming a doctor at all. I don't see any relation between his teleportation fist and something a doctor would do. If you can or do see one relation then please feel free to enlighten me. That's why, I'm frustrated and dissappointed. I hope I could express myself a little better this time around.
Hisoka's occupation is either a clown or a murderer. His ability doesn't seem to have any real relationship to either of that. Yes he can use his abilty to kill people, but there's a lot of abilities that can be used to kill people too. Novu's ability appears to have nothing to do with his occupation either. Besides, Leorio said that he's becoming a Hunter for the money because he needs money to practice the brand of medicine he envisioned. Even in a world with aura, it's presumably much more effective to treat people with standard medicine as opposed to see an aura specialist (otherwise those guys should've replaced doctors). It'd be logical to say Leorio simply realized that if he's become super strong and won the election then the money will definitely roll in. As the chairman he might simply be able to say, "All hospitals we own now treat people for free." It'd be far more useful than whatever curing power he can possibly develop on his own.
If this is true, I think the act of hitting Gin may score Leorio some points since he's standing up against him and his cocky way. He's most likely pissed off that he isn't visiting Gon who may die and may also be annoyed that he just heard of Gon's condition and wasn't even considered in terms of helping him out medically since he wanted to become a Hunter to help those in need for free. Instead Killuia relied on using his sister to help Gon rather then calling on Leorio, I can imagine why Leorio would be in a bad mood.
This full chapter should be intersting though if he actually appears though cause honestly ever since Gon has been in the hospital I'm sure everyone has been wondering when Leorio would show up since this is right up his alley. To come in the way he is would be pretty comedic in the sense that it's like well no duh he should have been the first one there to see if he could do anything to help Gon.
Unless everything is supposed to be an act put on by Leorio and Gin, the implication is that Leorio could've seriously hurt him. Besides, this is the world of HXH we're talking about. If someone activated their special ability, you're not going to just let them punch you because it looks weak since you've no idea what special ability that attack may have. We know Gin is one of the top 5 in the world, so he has to understand these things. If the whole thing is not an act, the fact that you can even punch a top 5 indicates extreme power. No doubt Leorio's sudden rise in popularity comes from the fact that he punched Gin in front of national TV.

Leorio: Why didn't you see his son? He's in danger of dying! If you call out his name, he might wake up!
Gin: What is your relationship to him?
Leorio: A friend.
Gin: I'm counting on you to keep Gon safe.
Leorio: Answer the question @#!*
Gin: Did he (Gon) say he wished me to see him?
Leorio: It's clear talking to this guy is useless.
(activates his ability)
Leorio: Prepare to die once!
Ging probably just took it as man, he could have had dodged/ blocked it without even blinking. Does anyone else realised that leorio's ability is similar with the boxing guy in greed island
ahaha i guess we'll have to wait the scans for this one, but lots of tiny details are legible, id tend to think it's the real deal: the return of leorio knowing that gon is in danger in pissed off mode, the fact that it looks like he is communicating with Gin through some Skype conference like suggested before , his ability ( emmission Greed highland boxer type) and Gin's reaction( not expecting that kind of range attack), flying in the air without a reaction, more like whatever than really hurt...
yup id like that to be true
So there are people seriously considering that Leorio can be a powerhouse now ? To me, it's just stupid.
If leorio is that strong, it's the last time you see me in the HxH forum. I would just consider that Togashi have no respect for his own manga ... and that wouldn't be the first time.

The spoil is absolutely not fake, it's practically an evidence (and I'm being modest).
But don't run away just yet, this manga is about more than Leorio being a powerhouse or not! ^^ Moreover we don't have the details yet, we don't know if it was Leorio's punch there for example, so hopefully we'll get a good explanation!
Being able to hit a top 5 means you're at least close to one of them. There are all sorts of nasty effects in HXH that can be triggered by simple contact (e.g. Knuckle's ability). In the scene it says there's this black vortex that appeared before Gin and then he got hit, so there's a clear implication that Leorio is using some kind of special ability. It is inconceiveable a top 5 user will see something like a black vortex and then say, "I'm going to get punched in the face by an unknown ability because I'm so awesome". They will definitely try to avoid it. Sure there's an element of surprise but if it's easy to surprise a top 5, they would never get there because somenoe should've surprised them with a fatal ability long before they got to their position.
I see no reason to believe Gin 'took it like a man' since he feels no responsibilty toward Gon to begin with. If he couldn't see Gon because he was too busy stopping Pariston I can buy that, but it sure looks to me Gin did it because he didn't really care.
There's an obvious implication that Leorio's sudden surge of popularity in the election is because he punched Gin in the face. Obviously people are thinking, "Wow, this guy must be awesome." and it makes total sense. He's probably not stronger than Gin, but he's not going to be significantly weaker either unless the whole thing was an act between Gin and Leorio. In HXH if you can punch someone in the face, you're not that far from them in terms of power. In fact that's the exact criteria Hisoka used to determine when Gon has become a worthy opponent.
I first thought it was crazy Leorio turns out to be powerful but it actually makes a lot of sense. He is the only person out of the 4 major characters who has no formal training of any kind. Gon was always 'one with nature', and Killua and Kurapika more or less spent a long time honing their body into some kind of perfect killing machine (Kurapika would be insane to seek the Spiders out if he didn't do that). Leorio is basically some regular guy who heard about the exam and decided to sign up. Leorio opened the 2nd door in the Z family when Gon can only open the first one.

Knuckles would have no chance of hitting Yupi on the face by himself, which make sense since the two are not really comparable in terms of power either.

I do agree with Host Samurai, almost everyone else if not exactly everyone else has a power that relates to them in some way. Remember, Hisoka's ability is even named after his favourite gum as a child, the same way Killua's ability reflects his many training days filled with electric sessions. And as Host brought up before, Gon's and Netero's are a homage to their way of life. Even Kurapika's chains reflected his drive, mission and life. Leorio's on the other hand doesn't seem to have anything to do with him at all, the only thing I can think of is the idiom "a helping hand".
Besides, what Leorio wants in life is power/money. He already realized that just becoming a doctor isn't enough without money (probably because all the medicine and stuff still costs money even if he's willing to work for free). I see nothing wrong with him developing powers that are just pure power in nature so that he can rise to a position to realize his dreams.
Pitou's abilty is probably the strongest 'healing' type ability we've seen from one person (Archangel is almost certainly the result of multiple users). From the depiction it's pretty clear he serves as some kind of one man surgeon team with all the equipment. So even if you become as powerful as Pitou, your value to the world as a doctor is equal to one team of surgeons. If Leorio is truly interested in saving the world, he should realize that no matter how powerful he becomes, he is only as good as a team of doctors at best, but if he becomes powerful (politically) he can certainly hire many teams of doctors to save more people.
