Moderator message by: KaozDiscuss the existing or potential future Prince of Tennis and Shin Prince of Tennis videogames here.
After Federer won yesterday i popped in every tennis game i owned...including these two, i popped in FTST and my Custom Yukimura and Sanada crushed my Custom Golden pair 6-1
Then i popped in Smash Hit 2 and out of boredom i decided to let Tezuka crush Seigaku these were the scores (hardest difficulty, not that it means much, no custom characters)
Ryoma 6-3, things were very even until i broke him at 4-3
Kaido 6-2, no snake spammage for you
Fuji 6-0, we had the craziest ralley i broke all his counters in one play
Eiji 6-2, the developers were silly to make it so that his volleys leave him so open
Inui 6-1, he broke me in the opening game and i proceeded to take the next 6
Oishi 7-5, the game developers made his moves cheap as hell...i can't count how many moon volleys flew over Tezuka's head
Then i kept going and it changed into Tezuka VS the world:
Atobe 7-6(6), this match was hard as hell
Sanada 6-3, the game didn't give him any FuuRInKaZans
Chotaro 6-2 (breaking his serve feels so good)
Tachibana 6-3, by far the hardest he broke me twice to get one of his 3 games, i got lucky when i won

I have FTST, it's great, i beated the game but didn't achieved the 100%, the only i character i don't have is Tachibana with blond hair, you need to have Tachibana in your team and he has to get the "old scar" and has to go to Kyuushuu.
I also wanted to made more custom characters with custom techniques but i don't understand japanese, so i didn't know how to customize their techniques. --'
I wish they made FTST2 with the people from the nationals and update the techniques.
There is a translation FAQ on gamefaqs that helped me a lot
I used my imagination to make them as close to their national level counterparts as possible
And i never got blond tachibana either
FTST was beyond horrible in terms of HUD and gameplay. SH2 was way better. The problems I had with SH2 were the character and move selection. Other than that, the gameplay was great.
I think Tachibana has the most broken serve return I've ever seen. It's impossible to return if aimed away from the server.
FTST did some nice things...they made the court bigger..added more shots...but they pissed me off in other ways (3 songs, no ability to start with max tension, you lose stamina you get knocked out etc)
Also...lol at Tachibana's return..it's the reason he broke me two times when i played him..he also had his owned drop shot which owned the Zero shiki drop and helped him break me a second time
FTST is way more playable to me. They added a whole lot of animations that make it easier and better to return a ball, whereas on SH2 there'd be A LOT of times the character would whiff a simple ball due to lack of hitting animations.
I have a lot of FTST teams but I haven't played for sooo long.
I don't understand how anybody could think FTST is more playable. Every character runs a minimum of 100 mph, and every 10 seconds you have to stop playing to watch an hour long special sequence that involves the camera slowly rotating around the player. It is annoying, and I got bored with the game after 30 minutes. Then you got the game HUD which takes up to inches off the screen, making you squint to see where the ball could possibly be in the small box of vision they give you. It's a shame, because of all the characters and techniques they added. But, it makes no difference if the core gameplay sucks.
I'd pick SH2 over FTST any day. (Though I really wish they would make a SH3)
FTST added the between the legs shot for Atobe and Echizen..which was awesome
I play SH2 for quick matches
My main issue with FTST is you can't start off with max tension..because of that i have to lose points to let the Ai get to their max tension of i will blitz them in seconds
I got used to the special sequences..doesn't really bug me too muchQuote:
As for seeing the ball never had that problem either
The speed was rather silly but an improvement over SH2 where if you didn't have netdash you ran to net at slow motion..or were in slow motion period (Taka)
My other biggest gripe was that i couldn't edit Yukimura...and Akutsu loves leaving my team...lots of saving and reloading thanks to that guy

I don't have either of these games and am too lazy to look them up...
Someone care to give me an overview of what they are and which teams/characters are available?
I love my little Crystal Drive....just wished there was an update.
Okay, but you should know Crystal drive is the most up to date...
SH2 is the second in the smash hit series..
It's a tennis sim, but very bare bones....but fun and fast paced, story wise it goes up to pre-kanto finals
All of Seigaku including the coach, and Sakuno and Najiroh
Most of Fudomine, Yamabuki, and St Rudolph
All of Hyotei, including the coach
Yasuyori from Midoriyama
Most of Rokkaku
Guest appearances by Renji, Sanada and Kirihara ( i say guest appearances because none of them except demon boy have their special shots)
Form the strongest team
The third in the series..goes up to the Kanto Finals
Some gameplay changes including more shot selection and an emphasis on realism (as much as they could) and toning down certain shots...
All of Seigaku, and Nanjiroh (ryuzaki sensei is out)
Most of Fudomine, Yamabuki,St Rudolph
All of Rokkaku
All of Hyotei, even including Taki Haginosuke
All of Rikkai, including Yukimura
Guy from Ginka
FTST would be awesome if they kept the same running speed, HUD, and quick dashing special sequences.
I prefer FTST's running speed...there's i no excuse for Taka running in slow motion..or tezuka moving in slow motion to the net because he doesn't have net dash
FTST Match ups i played..
Custom Tezuka VS Fuji, stats pretty much maxed
But we had the most AWESOME rally
-Fuji does Hakugei
-I smash it back
-I counter with Zeroshiki dropshot
-He returns it barely
-I go for the winner..he does Tsubame Gaeshi...
-I do Zero Shiki drop again
-He lobs it..
-I do dunk smash
Tezuka wins the point
I had a match between my broken Kirihara and my even more Broken Sanada...
4-4...Im serving...i accidentally lob
-Sanada does Ka
-I use Higuma Otoshi
-We are both in Muga so are specials are inifnite
-Ka can return Higuma Otoshi
-We go back and forth for 3 minutes between Ka and Higuma Otoshi..
-I let him win the point
-He breaks my serve (when they return your special with a special you can't use specials for 2 points)
-He serves out the match to love with 4 consecutive Prelude to Despair serves
Yukimura VS Tezuka
Yuki's stats suck...
I won 7-6(11)
With me, it's not that Akutsu loves leaving the team. It's more like, people keep loving leaving the team because he's around. I had to reload the game like... 4 times before Akazawa did NOT leave because of him after a practice.
Because on the 5th try my leader decided he needed to go get some material. Of course, I picked Akazawa and Akutsu to go there. Their friendship raised a little, and it was enough for Akazawa not to cry up and leave.

Lol..because of Akutsu i've only put him on the team once..
Nioh left me before, as did Yuuta..and the bastard left and when to the final..
I made Kirihara play him in the final and he got Knuckle served for a golden bagel
I know but this was my highlight shot because i was SO happy to see it in a PoT game, the service motions got better (yay Inui and Sengoku use a platform stance) and the swings got better, in SH2 every swing looked the same..but i played with infinite specials so it didn't really matterQuote:
