Is this another global version of occupy wall street, or does it have a different message? AS far as I know it is trying to blend the global trend of anti-government protests with the local problem that is unique to the Turkish government.
i dont really know what you mean by occupying wall street but its simply a protest against the anti-democratic government .people had enough ,we had enough
Well the protest took the same theme as the occupy protest, at least I am reminded of it, there have been several signs that point to that.
But I agree, the government, as in this government of Turkey has been the target of the people for a long time, I remember the critical reports about it recently, it finally erupted.
there are left-wing ,right-wing ,anarchists ,apoliticals ,basicly the whole country
if there is anything tayyip erdogan did right , he united us
Moral of the story:
Don't stake your political career on removing a public park. People like parks and open spaces. Found it amusing how Erdogan wanted to put an Ottoman Barracks there - AKA a monument to himself. That's definitely going to piss off everyone.
Reminiscent of the DS9 episode where the spiritual leader of Bajor, who was temporary political leader too, sent the military against her own people over a few soil reclamators.
Shinsengumi, I gotta ask - who elected this nutzo in the first place?
Well, it's always like this. First people elect the president or prime minister (that doesn't really matter in this case), then he makes one or two more or less good years of political work and then he just becomes overconfident, thinks that he is a propietary of the country itself and believes that he deserves to rule over it again and again and slowly becomes a dictator who thinks that he knows best what contry needs to do, even though in most of the cases it's wrong belief.
If I remember correctly Winston Cherchill stated that democrasy is a bad model of rulling the country, but for now noone manged to invent anything better, so in the end we will get Erdogans, Putins, Chavez, Lukashenko and other leaders like this everywhere.
