Short question before I start reading it tomorrow: Is there only one volume or is it still ongoing as stated everywhere?
There is only one collected volume so far but the series is ongoing.
What do you think is on that island? Will it be like the place where lost things go? Will she find Amelia Earhart there?

It has to be said, it just has to be said ... are many reading this as I am for the wonderful way the author blends his female character into the atmosphere of her surroundings and of course the way he actually draws the female characters in all his mangas? I love it when these things turn out to be so rare in the manga world, usually the anime stereotype of the big breasted, unrealistic, fan serving female gives a bad name to female characters in the culture of Japan, Kenji makes up for it!
Finally got around reading it and I liked what I saw.The slow pacing helps the wonderful atmosphere, even though a little more content wouldn't have hurt.
I'm a little bit confused because Bouken Erekitetou don't appear in Afternoon for quite some time. I had even thought that Kodansha had moved the series on good! Afternoon, but it isn't. Anyhow Bouken Erekitetou figured in Afternoon's roster then it makes me believe that the series can be on hiatus. Someone can solve my doubt?
I think this is the cover to the next issue of Afternoon where Wandering Island returns to serialization:
Great! I'm looking forward to this!
I wouldn't count on seeing the new chapters in English anytime soon. The group that scanlated volume 1 does not use magazine raws, and may or may not be active anyway. Truth be told I'd rather nice, pretty HQ releases made from tankobon scans anyway. Tsuruta is one of my favorite mangaka, I do look forward to new scans, whenever they come.
Yeah, I too would prefer HQ volume scans that probably won't come for a while, but at least we now know that something good is on the horizon. I've run out of Kenji Tsuruta stuff to read(I've even tracked down some of his art books to get my fix), so I'll take any glimmer of hope I can get. Seriously, I'll read anything by this guy. His art work speaks to me.
