is this the first non filler ep? thanks
I got to hand it to them, and especially Akira Ishida, Gaara's seiyuu for making Gaara's speech really epic. The voice acting was superb. The rest of the episode was good but pure transition and thus not much to comment on.
I love Gaara's third eye weirdly popping up at the bottom left side of the screen at 10:20
The animation wasn't anything to write home about, and I think I saw a lot of obvious coloring errors with the way character's had their flak jackets or headbands colored. For example all those Sand shinobi with the blue cloth, when they've always been depicted as tan, even in the previous episode. And there was one scenewhere they had some of Kakashi's skin colored dark blue. I think Gari's colors might've also been wrong.
It was kind of nice to see Kabuto and Anko fight a bit. I'm hoping that's an indication that we'll get more filler fights out of this war.
I forgot to mention it, but I'm a little disappointed that they didn't push the zombie theme further by making their skin more pale/gray. I know Hashirama and Tobirama looked fairly normal back in the day, but I thought it was much cooler when they all looked like they were actually dead (before being activated). Also, the animators removed all the lines in their faces when they were fully activated, which has been a trademark for Edo Tenseid characters in the manga. That's a pretty big mistake.
