I've played Halo 4, yeah. Cleared the campaign in Legendary (first and only run) and played the multiplayer up to lvl 40 or so (a good amount of hours).
Not much to say about the multiplayer. It has the usual Halo quality (good). Still, it kept me hooked less time than Halo 3 and Reach. Not sure exactly why. Still, a good multiplayer with really good map design.
The singleplayer was good too. It was more interactive than before (much more dialogue between Chief and Cortana for instance). The sub-plot for Cortana becoming outdated was touching too, even if it's really weird with the almost romantic relationship between a genetically manipulated super soldier and an A.I. The campaign also focused qutie a bit on Chief's humanity (or slow discovery of humanity), which has been heavily neglected in previous installations. All in all I'm greatly satisfied as a Halo fan since the first game. It felt like a smooth transaction from Bungie to 343, but with 343's touch to it. The graphics were spectacular (Chief also looks far more detailed and badass as expected), the sound was amazing (new sounds for everything), music was superb and the weapons are amazingly balanced unlike previous games (e.g. the classic assault rifle is worthless in previous games, but now it's great in the right situations). Lastly the new race of enemies, Prometheans, gave a wonderful variety to fights in Halo (Flood is just brainless and boring). And their weapons are wonderfully designed, especially their grenades are unique and thus have a sweet unique field of use.
If anything, the game suffered a bit from having to "reboot" for too long. They did the right thing and didn't rush it, but it took some (necessary) time to get Chief and the story in the direction they wanted due to Bungie's previous storytelling. For instance the first map is Chief running around trying to defend his ship that is being invaded by Covenant at the same time as being pulled into the Foreigner planet (Requiem), and the second map is Chief exploring the planet after having been pulled into it, looking for "a ride home" but later investigating something else. Anyway you catch my drift. Overall I enjoyed the game very much. Not a perfect score, but a high one.
Since I know I'm not going to play it before....very long or never, I managed to watch some walkthrough videos and all the cinematics '+legendary ending) on youtube when I had the time. Master Chief's armor was gorgeous, same with the new weapons. I also noticed a change of atmosphere like the Covenants not having their funny side anymore.
However, it was a bit weird to see Cortana being that emo but well, I guess 8years+ of service with Chief and malfunctioning made the deal.
This episode seems like a stand alone, I didn't see any kind of hint about an incoming threat in the future.
Is it me or Chief has become a freaking giant at the very last cinematic ? I believe he wasn't that big just after his evolution boost ? :O
I forgot to add: Gorgeous cinematics after every mission as well as mid-mission sometimes (when you reach Bravo Checkpoint) were fantastic and added a lot to the storytelling, not to mention the motion capture usage.
Cortana isn't that "emo" that often. She acts up when she gets emotional sometimes as she becomes unable to control herself, and her voice sounds disturbed and makes your HUD act up occasionally throughout the game as she worsens. And yeah, according to Halo logic A.I.'s "expire" after seven years, so she's in bad shape on top of having been through crap with the Chief (being left alone in the Flood ship comes to mind).
Yeah, it felt a bit episodic, but at the same time it left small hints of a dispute between the Foreigners (humanity a threat vs not). I think it's obvious that the Prometheans won't be left out in future installations, so the Foreigners have to be involved somehow. Not to mention the whole plot about evolution would lose a lot of significance if the Foreigners didn't return.

What do you mean about the Covenant's "funny side"? You mean the comments the Grunts bark out sometimes?
I thought the only Forunners (you call them Foreigners ? xD) left was the Didact and the librarian. There are hints about others being alive ?
Watch again the last cinematic with Chief...he is a freaking giant now. Compare with the previous cinematics when he is near other humans in Halo 4.

Uhm, yup. Typos are great. Who knows, if one was left (the Librarian was only "digital" IIRC), it wouldn't be hard to say "there's more!", but even if there aren't real Forerunners there's always the Prometheans that are a form of "super advanced "humans"" But I think they have to make it more exciting than simply the Prometheans wishing to finish what e.g. the Didact started.
I'll look at it sometime. I didn't notice any major change in his size, but maybe it did increase...
Didn't pay much attention to the detail about the Grunts. They do at least run at your awkwardly (in a funny way) when they want to blow themselves up.

He only told me to join if I wanted. The only reason I was contacted in the first place was because sasuke-kun talked to me about it in-game and tipped him off.
Anyway I don't really know much about these games...
