In my opinion, first episode of the new season will be a recap episode; it would be nice if it would cover chapter 299 from Gildarts pov. I just wonder what they'll do with Flare apologizing scene (it was only seen in OVA) and how they'll fix it with upcoming events.
I also honestly hope they don't redo it. The quality dipped, sure, but reanimating it won't change that the previous version is out there. Funi already bought the rights and I'd be shocked of you told me that DVDs for those episodes were never put on sale in Japan. And honestly having to wait another half a year or so just for the anime to catch up to where it left off would be at least three times as obnoxious as having some lower budget episodes that don't get replaced. I don't know how much of the staff is sticking around, but they've mostly done a good job with filler on the past and honestly filler is better than the same canon material twice. Between the GMG arc again and a filler arc, I'd rather chance it with the filler.
Changing chapter 299 to a recap episode from Gildarts' POV (he did follow updates on the GMG) is a pretty good idea itself. I think it's the most likely to happen, in fact.
I don't really care about the details.. This the best news in a long time. So happy, very happy about it.
I'd rather have the tournament reanimated with some filler fights than a whole filler arc after the GMG.
I mean I just rewatched the last episode and... maaaan this has to be better.
Shadow/White Drive didn't feel as epic as in in the manga version.
the manga version had an aura around them and anime version was like: meh I don't care for that.
same goes for DF, not as epic as in the manga.
not to mention if they reanimate the GMG they have more space between anime and manga.
Designs unveiled on today at http://www.fairytail-tv.com/
The colors look a lot like the FT movie which is great, it's a very good improvement and now I want to see Gray, Erza and Gajeel.
Wow, looks real solid. I'm guessing this is thanks to A-1's other big projects like Magi, and SAO. A-1's first projects included Black Butler and Oofuri, and those series had modest success, if I recall. It wasn't until they got FT that they really hit it big. The big bucks from FT must have gone into other projects like Magi or SAO, which actually helped their animators/or afford better-skilled animators to stay onboard their studio. This, in turn, improved A-1's production quality and produce hits like SAO and Magi.
And now the level of production quality is being funneled back to FT, the series that put them on the map of the industry. I think the deteriorating quality of the anime in the GMG arc was deliberate so that they can focus on smaller/shorter projects like the examples above in order to level up their animators by giving them more experience.

The colors seem to be more vivid, which is really a good thing, because sometimes, in the previous anime, the colors seemed to be.....too dark.
Anyway I just can't wait to see FT animated again and I've discarded all the fears that I had in them restarting the anime so soon.
The site will update the character designs every Wednesday, so keep an eye out for it.
Gray and Erza this time.
It seems like the characters will look more like their manga counterparts this time...
At least that was my impression upon seeing the renders.
Wow, they look GREAT. Hopefully they will improve the animation as well.
