Name: Minami Kuroshi
Age (appearance): Minami is in his 40's by Soul Society's standards, but can pass for younger because of the sparkle in his eye, and lighthearted nature.
Weight: 220lbs but appears to be 170lbs
Division: See Gotei 13 below for info before deciding on Division and Rank.
Appearance (description or picture): Average height, with solid thick muscles, but an overall slender quality. Heterochromia: One brown eye, one green. Buzz cut black hair. Two cuts in either eyebrow. Light brown skin. He wears a thin but heavily weighted Kevlar style full body armor under his standard shinigami uniform, and wears his Captain Haori closed with a small eagle's talon shaped clip at the neck, like a cloak rather than the standard sleeved version. His footwear is an open toe and flexible combat style boot, with an armor plated sole.
Personality: Minami is genuine and lighthearted. He is always looking to help out someone who is struggling in their work, and has become something like a therapist for the lower ranking younger members of the Gotei 13. He loves to laugh but is TERRIBLE at telling jokes. He forces his squad to play hide and seek using flash-steps while consciously suppressing their reiatsu. He doesn't dwell on the past as it can beget misgivings about the future, but he always focuses on what is right in front of him as a result of what was before it. This way, he can take in all the details possible, without falling into assumptions. He likes to keep secrets, and that has lead many in the Gotei 13 to trust him with theirs.
Background/History: Minami always loved his friends and family growing up in the 138th Rukongai district. His favorite games "Whodunnits" and "Hide and Seek". One day, several hundred years ago, while out with his best friends Hattori and Celia and a group of local kids, a local mad man captured and ran off with the food they had just gathered. That night, they found his cave dwelling on the outskirts of town. So hungry from the day's chase and information gathering, the kids didn't see the man lurking outside the entrance as they peeked in. He captured the kids, and tied them up next to his bed. That week, the man prepared and cooked one part of them per day. After eating Hattori's left arm, the man fell asleep in the corner of the cave. Having seen the man's patterns, and memorized his breathing just before waking, Minami hatched a plan. Every time the man began to wake, he would fan him off, because it was hot in the cave, the man always fell into a deep sleep at nightfall when it cooled down. The extra hour was all they needed, while taking turns fanning the sleeping maniac, the other two would chew through each other's ropes. Once Minami was free, he sent his injured friends away to get help.
Staying behind, he loosely bound and gagged him in his sleep, and set his bed on fire. As he was walking away from the cave, the madman came screaming out into the surrounding field as planned, and the noise attracted hungry wolves which delivered the punishment the man so deserved.
From that day on, Minami wanted to make sure that no such evil would go unnoticed in society, and starting a local task force, he policed his home district so well, that after just 8 years, the Gotei 13 took notice of him and his blossoming spiritual pressure. He graduated easily enough, not wanting to let people know just how smart he was, in case he needed to catch one of his classmates one day. But the head of the Onmitsukidō at that time took notice of him, and unable to fool the wise leader, he accepted the Head Detective position as Leader of the the Special Internal Investigation Force for the Onmitsukidō.
After a few decades, he was nominated for Captaincy and became the captain of Squad 9.
Fighting Style: Minami specializes in physical hand-to-hand combat. Having once been the leader of the Special Internal Investigation Force for the Onmitsukidō, he uses his keen intellect and photographic memory to see through any combat situation for the most effective outcome. He prefers to watch rather than compete, but he is a flash step specialist, experimenting with and developing numerous stealth techniques to acquire the necessary information on suspects with in the 2nd Division. When forced to get serious, an enemy should be aware of his Hofuku or Lurking Step, which is a series of feints so intricate that an enemy is fooled into believing that the attack has succeeded or failed, before it has even begun. This leaves them open to powerful counterattacks to their Saketsu. While not Kenpachi strong, his technique would allow him to hold his own against any opponent. Maybe like a 80 on the offensive scale. 30 on Kido. If that makes sense?
Name: Theory of Application
Sub-Types: Multiple Tools
Sealed Form: Looks like a 2 ft bladed knife, with a guard that curves down around the hand, to the wrist.
Release Command: "Employ the Truth to Demolish all Towers"
Released Form: It becomes a metal but flexible satchel filled with Ninja and Detective tools. 42 throwing Stars, 8 bombs, 7 mines, 20 traps, one disassembled double-headed voulge (ala Kageroza), one hand held microscope to analyze spirit particles and other bio matter, one hand held telescope looks inward -to analyze the vastness of the opponent's reiatsu, 2 magnifiers worn as glasses to watch opponents from a few kilometers out, and a notepad that records all events of a battle from start to finish for future use, it writes itself. He can access this notepad at any point to read its unbiased perspective up to that point.
Kanpa "See through"- Accesses the array of Detective tools in his bag, allowing him to analyze, predict, and dismantle enemy
attacks further than his natural talents had. Works by seeing the smallest possible attributes that make up any
action the opponent takes, then by analyzing them through the scopes and magnifiers of his tools, he can
come up with a way to either counter or escape most attacks. Since he is a stealth character, this is best used
after creating distance.
Kaihou "Open"- Accesses the arsenal of Ninja tools in his satchel. The satchel unfolds into a mat, with all the weapons
arranged on it. He equips the mat as a cloak of armor. It has a stealth feature that sends "echo feints"
or phantom sounds out. These make it sound like his steps or motions are coming from elsewhere while he is
hidden. Best used after Kanpa, this allows for the most devastating counter. Attacks to the enemy,
using spiritual weapons like bombs, throwing stars, double bladed staffs (ala Kageroza), etc. These are most
deadly when he switches between the 2 abilities to set traps for his opponents.
Konekuto "Connect"- Brings all the tools in his satchel together. This is the final ability that gears up toward his Bankai. This can also
be used to summon lost or stolen tools *thanx! lol*
Bankai Name: 終了が緩んで提携 "Tie Up Loose Ends"
Bankai Appearance: The tools return to the satchel, the satchel closes, and he whips it over his head. When it swings down it turns into a monk's staff with Eagle's wing shaped blades about 3 feet long each on four sides at the top. It is black along the 9 foot shaft, and has 5 platinum rings all along the body, with the 2 release commands and 3 ability commands engraved on each one them.
Bankai Effect(s): All the abilities of his shikai are in effect, but he doesn't need to access each tool to use them. This also comes with the new ability being...
Mondai "Question/Problem"- This allows him to interrogate his opponent while fighting. Every blow he lands to them directly, not their
weapon, forces them to answer a question truthfully. The battle stops until they take one of those two
actions. So it is best not to get hit by his attacks at this stage.
