And I see, that sure makes sense then. For me it would probably be the other way around, like, "OMG, it's all so exotic and close to nature...!!!". xD
Of course it is. I can't believe that someone like molo wouldn't make it past Round 1. Dude's a friggin legend... a high-performance translation machine rather than a human translator even!
Skillswise and concerning quantity this wouldn't even be a contest with him around.
I already mentioned carlos, kewl has been around for quite some time as well and had been very productive the last few years, BDR is so passionate and hard-working, PROzess has also done a lot of projects over the last two years. It's quite the illustrate competition really!
And now I was on the verge of forgetting to reply to the last part:
Hehe, you're right. I have been quite the huge JUMPtard, I "studied" that magazine for a few years. (e.g. read about its history; follow the TOC, sales, and whatnot; try to read many of its series, etc.)
I have about 200 issues of it at home. Have been subscribing since 2010-ish. Before that I mostly bought some occasional issues when there was an amazing chapter of any series I liked or if Shuueisha added a cool giveaway/gimmick to the issue.
So yeah, I know quite a bit about the Manga Industry in general, whereas JUMP would be my area of expertise, I guess.
Yes, I read The Breaker. It's not bad.
And thank you very much for your support. It's greatly appreciated!
Thanks for the note! - But beware of'em long postings in here...
what about tower of God then?
I prefer spam in these sort of threads MP!
Googlez had described my feelings about the series some place here in the MZ yesterday... not sure where it was.
I'm more into quiet yet haunting stuff these days, e.g. Slice-of-life with a nice pitch of psychological stuff which revolves around the conditio humana.
No hard feelings!
That's quite disappointing. As long as you find the time to actually read the posts here I won't complain though...
But I feel like I might have outgrown the magazine, to be honest. I'm not really attracted to most of the series anymore and I certainly miss great titles that didn't feel as tuned down as most stuff these days...
You know, I was really getting into the magazine around 2005 or so. Back then JUMP had just SOOO much more "soul"! Another era I really, REALLY loved was the rough'n'tough, meaty stuff from the (late) 80's. Hokuto no Ken is still one of my favorite series EVER, same goes for JoJo's...
Afternoon sure is a fine mag to subscribe to, nice choice! What are your favorite series from the magazine?
I'm a big fan of Vinland Saga, Oofuri [Ookiku furikabutte], GON, Historie and Muugen no juunin/BotI. (Other series I follow from Afternoon are Sidonia no kishi and Bakuon rettou).
Once I have more time at hand I really wanna start Tenchi meisatsu, too! That series sounds so interesting and awesome~
You should try Tower of God. The action isn't the main reason its awesome. The plot is very intriguing and needs reader's attention to understand it.
smash him thorn, he dare to compare ToG to any manhwa
Sadly, there are too many of them who aren't willing to read manhwa.
yup they judge something by the country they're coming from and that's totally nonsense. Lemme ask you something prince. the fact that u're German mean you'll never be able to write an awesome story?
I'm really more of a Tankoubon person in the end. I need the haptic impulse, I love the smell of ink and all that stuff...
If you really insists I might give it a second try in the future, but that's the most I can do really! I mean taste DOES differ after all.
I mean, you can't force a certain thing on somebody. Let's take food as an example: if you don't like it, it certainly won't help people telling you just how delicious it is. As long as your taste buds say "Do not want!" it comes down to "No" in the end.
1.) You're assuming things here. I read some Manhwa! Overall I may not be that enchanted but I have stated VARIOUS TIMES before that there ARE exceptions.
2.) You DO know Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, right? In my opinion the best writer of all times, even better than Shakespeare. So where does this "Germans can't write an awesome story" even come from!?
well i assumed you don't like manhwa cuz it's from Korea and not from Japan, and u're making generality about them. So i made the parallelism: someone not linking stuff from Germany just cuz the country. its ridiculous isn't it. now add ToG in your reading list, u'll see the exception amongs the exception
What's going on buddy!?
You play any sports?
Are you good at any?
Nice sig :3
Welcome Bugzee and thanks for swinging by~
Currently nothing much is going on, to be honest. The new semester just started and I'm still in a rebounding phase after finishing this one really nasty 20 page term paper on Contemporary American Poetry. (That's the reason why I started getting more active on MangaHelpers recently in the first place. I needed a place to blow off some steam and just kick back and relax...)
I do like playing sports but I can't say I'm doing it regularly. My favorite sport will always be football/soccer. (I've mostly been playing Striker [more precisely: Left-forward or Left winger] in my club.)
Well, and not to sound like a braggart or anything but I've ever since been good at any sports I played. I'm just somewhat of a natural athlete and quite quick at picking up new things...
And thank you for the compliment. It's thanks to guys like you I even got the chance to make it in the first place! Since I never got around saying it to you before, let me take this opportunity to thank you for your nomination (and later on support) in the Community Awards. It's greatly appreciated!
Oh, but your signature ain't too shabby either. Googlez sure did a fine job there...
