I'm looking at the top 50, not thinking about it.
oooh. Number two. Haven't listened to Kendrick Lammar yet. I would have put Beach House and Grimes a smidge higher. Loved Tame Impala's album, glad it made the top five. Most of my favorite albums seem to be in the teens: Japandroids, Dirty Projectors, Cloud Nothings, Ty Seagall. I also would have placed Lotus Plaza and Sharon Van Etten higher. All in all a middling year in music.
The Kendrick Lamar thing sort of passed me by a bit. I listened to it, but it seems to have huge universal praise. But I'd definitely put Franke Ocean over mostly everything this year. I think I misremembered about Frank Ocean getting best song. The number one song was surprising to me as well, as I didn't expect it. Beach House's new album deserves to be up there for sure.
I thought it was interesting that The xx's new album was left out completely.
I hear some Frank Ocean talk.
That was worth the read. Pipe-layin' must commence.
XX's new album was solid, but not something I would put on a year end best of list. Frank Ocean's album was very good, well deserving of all the praise, but not to my taste. I like my soul grittier, less keyboards, more live instruments.

The Bowl-cut is inherent. So is taking out people in my path in a violent and unnecessary way.
