I see NGE has enough nominations already.
You can't nominate Cowboy Bebop as it won last year. Please try again

Gah, I love it so much I completely forgot, was going to do the same in a category that Code Geass won.

    I'll just support NGE then.

Hokuto No Ken : A classic, surprised I didn't even see it here because man, that's one epic anime
Saint Seiya : The very first anime I ever saw, and I loved the concept of the armors, and it had many epic scenes as well
City Hunter : Who doesn't like Ryo Saeba ?

We're sorry, but Monster Anime was created after year 2000, do you want to change your nomination?

Well when I hear classic I say Dragon ball and Hokuto no Ken.
    These are my nominations.

    Re: Best Classic

I'm gonna nominate two series for now:

The first being Treasure Island (Takarajima), a gem from 1978 which was directed by late Dezaki Osamu. The animation of the show was handled by Tokyo Movie and MADHOUSE.

My second nomination goes to Seijuushi Bismarck or Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs, a space western masterpiece from 1984 that was directed by Annou Masami. The animation studio behind the show was Studio Pierrot.

Absolutely adored those shows when I was a little shrimp. Wouldn't miss a single episode of them...

This. Even though the series was super long that it was hard to watch all episodes properly (200 episodes, yeah). Such a memento from my childhood.

Classic. It's kind of hard to decide on a great classic series for me since I don't watch old anime a lot. I'm only recently getting into world of anime as well, so yeah. I only watched NGE completely, but I did notice the other titles as well. They are all different in plot and its exploration so judging them would be rather difficult. Among all of them I think NGE was the one most different for having a more serious plot and character development. Not that others not, but I think other series don't explore 'darkness' like NGE did (I can be wrong about that since I don't watch them completely haha). And they don't break your mind like NGE does, lol. So there goes my vote.
