Gon And killua
Both individually and the dynamics of their friendship I think deserves merit on its own
For one chapter intro the koala devt was I thought well done
I would say, I'd like more of illumi's and hisoka's childhood.
Killua, Kurapika, Gyro, Gon
Silva, Machi, Pakunoda, and Leorio.
Haha Meryem, Kurapika, Killua, Illumi, Gon, Hisoka, In that Order. Well to me. I like Meryem's whole story. His constant questioning of who he is and what he is supposed to do was one of the cooler parts to the Chimera Ants Arc to me. Kurapika because I loved his quiet anger coming out in Yorknew when he captured Chrollo. Then Killua's whole assassin backstory not shaping him to be a whole emo kid really makes me like him more. He enjoys what he does and is still a kid. Illumi. Well I like his character in general, you never see him get mad unless it comes to Killua getting threatened. I like how he's so emotionless and simple minded when it comes to things like friendship and killing. Gon's whole outlook on life is fantastic and all but I really love how angry he is towards Neferpitou in the Chimera Ant arc. You never see Gon so intense and ready to fight. It really makes me think Gon could become an antagonist if he was shaped to be. Hisoka. I love his playfuil personality but I WISH I KNEW HIS BACKSTORY! I mean I know every character doesn't have to have a backstory but Hisoka intrests me. Like why is he so strong? Did he learn from someone or was it natural? Why does he have such a love for battle? What does he WANT? To die having the time of his life in battle? Or does he just want a challenge that he can work hard to beat. I mean he's just so mysterious. But I just gotta say Hunter X Hunter has shot up to my favorite anime of all time with it's 2011 adaptation. I couldn't stomach the 99 version for more than one episode. But Madhouse has done the series justice with the remake and I really can't wait to read more of the manga.
Netero. At first glace he was a damn strong and funny leader of the hunterorganisation. Later on we knew more about him, his freakish training... and when he set on his rapeface against meruem... dammit i was shocked, where did the funny guy go?
Even with his loss against meruem we learned something important.
Gon, Kurapika, Leorio, Netero, Zeno, Meryem, Hisoka... The list goes on

It's not really fair, I wish I had read this thread earlier(haven't been here in a while too). Almost every post contains my favorite character's name and the character I think is best written. Plus most of what I wanted to say is already written and I don't feel like repeating anything.

Well Meruem would've been number one, but the last arc happened, so Killua suddenly jumped up...I think Togashi does a superb job at characterization, so the ones who are best written are actually the ones who get more screen time...with more screen time, their complexity and depth grows, so Killua is definitely most favoured here alongside Gon...
The first reason for Meruem taking Gon's place is the fact that Meruem is superbly written despite him being a character for just one arc, even if a long one, and the second is the finale of the arc...which was incredible...
But I think that what Togashi excels at most is character relationships, not individual characterization, so in this light I like how Parriston is written(in relationship with Netero) and I like Kuroro(in relationship with the Ryodan of course)
