That Naruto shouldn't be able to enter RM is not my biggest beef with this episode. The major problem for me is that it completely destroys the character development Naruto got from the Konoha invasion arc. He had finally realized that he shouldn't rely on the Kyuubi's power, and then he does something like this? I mean, when he went abe-shit 8 tails against Pain, several of the people close to him had been killed. Hell, he didn't even snap until he thought Hinata had been killed right in front of him. This time, however, he seems to give up control of himself to the Kyuubi for no apparent reason? It's almost as if they made him out to be power hungry, which just doesn't fit his character at all imo.
The Pain fight was the last time Naruto lost control; it showed how he had matured, which this episode destroys.
I found the filler arc refreshingly good (main reason is probably the animation) but this ending was as lazy as every other movie ending.
And all the other characters are useless too. Why was there the blink-of-an-eye-action of the whole cast before they disappeared miraculously?
Also, why does Kakashi cover his Sharingan with his hand even though there is no sign of him even activating the Mangekyou (which he later watches the whole rescue scene with, huh)? Made no sense.
Nothing happening in this episode contradicted anything from the manga, in fact it showed us three things we had never seen in the manga:
1. Incomplete Tailed Beast Mode - When Naruto was almost killed, Nine Tails willingly shared some of his chakra with Naruto, and Naruto, following Minato's advice, was able to control the power for a while. This released the seal in a unique way we hadn't seen before, and created a golden chakra aura of the Nine Tails with six tails and no legs. Naruto doesn't gain access to the complete version of this transformation until he forges a friendship with the Nine Tails, which is going to be the focus of the upcoming canon anime arc.
2. Seven Tailed Naruto - Naruto is overtaken by the Nine Tails hatred and takes this form, which we'd never seen. Previously we had only seen Six Tailed and Eight Tailed forms of Naruto's Version 2 transformation, because he was trapped inside of Pain's Chibaku Tensei when he went through the Seven Tailed version. Seven Tailed transformation looks like a giant red chakra Nine Tails with its skeleton appearing inside the aura, and Naruto can be seen inside in Version 2 form (in Eight Tailed form its chakra aura was replaced with actual muscle and tissue).
3. Partial Nine Tails Chakra Mode - With Minna's influence and his desire to protect the orphans, Naruto overcame the Nine Tails' hatred and was able to seperate and absorb some of its chakra, partially transforming into Nine Tails Chakra Mode. The seal pattern on his body only formed halfway, with only three magatama patterns on his chest, and the chakra cloak faded in and out around his body. Naruto later controls this form fully after he places a special seal on the Nine Tails that lets him absorb the Nine Tails chakra whenever he wants.
Because she's a cute little girl. What else?
I don't have a problem with this transformation. It's filler and an imaginary transformation, fine. If they want to fuse the kyuubi with the Stay-Puff Marshmellow man-be my guest.Quote:
My issue isn't whether he's 6-, 7-, or 8-tails. It's the taint. He failed to control it when he went 4-tails, Yamato bailed him out. He failed when he went 6-tails, then Minato bailed him out. He failed in the cave when he tried to take all the chakra, Kushina bailed him out. Naruto's limit is 3-tails. That level of control has NEVER changed throughout the story until this sub-arc. So it does contradict the manga when he can't control the tainted power. then suddenly be able to control it subconsciously, then lose control again when we get back to the manga as the story resumes.. It's a continuity error, and they blew it.Quote:
If it was Kushina's voice from somewhere else, that would have more credibility and a better segway to unfolding events. The seals breaks then magically reseals itself so he enters this pseudo-state. I understand the motive to foreshadow upcoming events, but it wasn't credbile. The fighter clicks in the forums here don't care but the story clicks do. They botched it, and they botched it bad.Quote:
About the last episode of Chikara looking really rushed and having a bunch of holes: according to the last post on the Pierrot blog, a part of it was cut to fit the TV format. The missing parts will apparently be present on the DVD release.
