She had almost a year to work on it. Even if she did it in a slow pace, I think drawing two covers won't be too much for her. (I at least hope so)
Doing the covers wont be that big a deal. Also she worked on Valvrave character designs so i take it that doing some art work is not to big a deal.
What i suspect is that she cant work continuously for extended periods, and releasing half chapters every 3 or 4 months just wont do it. But im curious whats up with her. Cause its taking long yet she did a oneshot and the valvrave character art.
She drew a oneshot (with 2 color pages), 2 insanely beautiful artworks for boxes and over 50 sketches (a lot of them was completed in lineart, and I just count what has been released), volume 24's must-do things (only volume covers if the oneshot takes place either volume covers and possibly an extra chapter). I am not suprised if her illness suddenly knocked her off.
Beside, using the dip-pen (what you use to draw manga) is painful. My wrist hurts just for one page.

Courtesy of 2ch, Amazon's D.Gray-Man volume 24 page is up. Cover image is coming soon, of course.
Release date: 11/1
Pages: 188 (- Double confirmation. Curious about the 20 page extra. )
That's only 8 days away... O___O I'll be looking forward to seeing it in Sanseido's glass promo in Mitsuwa. (Hopefully, they put it up for display.) However, will be waiting patiently for the English version. Finally!! \^o^/
...they could also be Hoshino writing down everything else she planned out but can't continue with anymore. ;_;
so wait there is definitely going to be a 20 page something at the end?????
^ non-chan did the math, and that seems to be about right considering Hoshino is one chapter short of making it a full tankoubon (assuming the next chapter was 20 pages long). Vol. 23 consists of 8 chapters - Night 206-212. The "bonus" manga is counted as an extra that adds more to the book. I'm looking at it right now in mine.
As for the 20 pages, well.... We shall see.
Super edited portion that all of you can ignore if you want to...
I mis-understood the latest convo going on at 2ch. Rahh!!
So, I'm glad I caught my mistake. @_@ Hehe.... Translating properly instead of short-cutting will definitely lead to mis-understandings. *bonks self on head*

The oneshot has exactly 20 pages too
Moreover, I am not sure if the alternate cover gets it own new art like the official one. It can be old artwork but redesigned.
The Japanese 2ch posters are bumping up the spoiler section in "anticipation" even if it's just for the new covers and 20 page extra. One of them is nervous. In the other thread, a user mentioned the Nea cover (thanks to animate.co.jp's site). Someone asked that user where they can see it. No response to that question. I did my own research on that site. Did not see anything just yet about the rumored Nea cover. However, they interestingly list the next SQ issue as the "D.Gray-Man" cover edition under SQ's news section. Animate seems to be one of the online stores that will carry this special D.Gray-Man version. I'm only scratching my head slightly on this, because I see that anniversary cover on SQ's site.
Edit: And I'm going to throw post #885 into obscurity rumor land until #24 comes out. However, if that's the case, I hope she doesn't end up like Yukiru-sensei. Her health comes first and she better come back!! >D

#885 poster made his/her reply. Let's forget the post for the time being as he/she used google as source.
I try not to get my hopes up too much, but this is just too exciting for me. I'm really happy to see new things about DGM pop up! I'll cross my fingers for the series to start up again in the Jan. issue.. but I still feel that it won't be until the start of next year.
