Overview of the parties in this chess game:

CCG: Founded by Washuu clan back in 1890 or something. They've been hunting ghouls for a long time and continue to do so in the name of public safety. Keeps experimenting with turning humans into ghouls. Recently unveiled successful Quinx surgery.

V: A group of ghouls (according to Yoshimura) that kills anyone in their way, including other ghouls. They ordered Yoshimura (Kuzen) to kill his baby momma Ukina because she was a journalist trying to leak info about V. Probably has ties to CCG.

Aogiri: Bunch of ghouls that want to destabilize CCG/V's control. Has a CCG defector (Kanou) helping them amass an army, who's also obsessed with making hybrids. Some members (Shachi, Ayato) aren't 100% on board with Aogiri's methods. Eto appears to be their leader, and has a chip on her shoulder cause V screwed her by making her an orphan essentially.

Pierrot: Bunch of ghouls that try to pit the other groups against each other... I guess? Probably wants them to kill each other off and then assume control (Helter Skelter theory).

Then there's Kaneki/Haise... whom Yoshimura thinks is special because he's the only one that has 2 places he belongs to, the "thing" he's trying to throw away (humanity) and his "half part" (ghoul) make up those 2 places.

Alright, put your tinfoil hats on:

The Washuu clan artificially create the first batch of ghouls sometime prior to 1890, possibly to use as a weapon during a war (unleash into enemy territory, let enemies get eaten). Some ghouls escape from Washuu control and start to multiply, becoming a threat to humanity. No matter, Washuu use this threat to justify creation of a military organization. CCG is created, and continues to grow and militarize under the name of public safety.

Ghouls continue to evolve/mutate. A group of strong ghouls organize into V and sometimes overpower the CCG. Eventually, they strike a truce and agree to a partnership that benefits them both (not sure what's being exchanged). But, to keep this balance, CCG has to keep killing ghouls (justify existence) and ghouls get to keep killing humans (maintain threat to humanity). This would be the "twisted cage" we keep hearing about.

CCG continues their research of turning humans into ghouls as weapons in secret but this time as versions they can fully control (future Quinx), possibly as countermeasure to get rid of V down the line if necessary. Eto (and other ghouls) find out about the arrangement between CCG and V (Eto leaks to Amon CCG's shady history) and doesn't want CCG to get the upper hand. If CCG takes out V they'll take out all ghouls as well. They organize Aogiri, aka operation ghoul master race, MagnETO style. Pierrot feels CCG/V has too much of an upper hand (Souta says they're at an 11/10) and Aogiri is too weak (Nico says they're at a 7/10), so Souta lays some beams on Rize so Aogiri has more materials to play with. Aogiri continues to capture CCG members to simultaneously weaken CCG and strengthen Aogiri. Pierrot is cool with this for now.

Kaneki/Haise has personal understanding of human and ghoul struggles, and is slowly building supporters from both sides. We got old friends of TG (Anteiku squad), new friends of CCG (quinx), old friends of CCG (floppy), and possibly new friends of Aogiri (Shachi, Ayato) in the future. Kaneki/Haise will probably create another faction that has its own goals sometime after he inevitably abandons CCG, possibly with some pacifist tendencies (cause going apeshit as Shironeki was selfish and didn't work).

Thoughts?
