The story is set before World War II and is centered on three men with the name Adolf. Adolf Kamil is a Jew living in Japan. His best friend Adolf Kaufmann, who is of both Japanese and German descent. The third Adolf is Adolf Hitler, the future dictator of Germany.

The story of Adolf begins in 1936 as Japanese reporter Sohei Toge travels to Berlin, Germany to cover the Berlin Olympic Games. Upon arriving, he finds that his younger brother, who has been studying in Germany as an international student, has been murdered. Furthermore, all traces of information regarding his younger brother's study in Germany has vanished. It was as if he had never existed. Investigating the matter, it is later learned that his murder is connected to a document he mailed to Japan with information regarding Adolf Hitler. This information is crucial to the Third Reich as it contains proof that Adolf Hitler has Jewish blood.

A member of the Nazi party living in Japan named Wolfgang Kauffmann is ordered to find the documents. He expects his son, Adolf Kauffmann, to become a strong supporter of Adolf Hitler. However, Adolf Kauffmann has no interest in Nazi Germany as it would mean the killing of his good friend, Adolf Kamil, who is Jewish.

As events progress, the lives of the three Adolfs intertwine and become more and more tangled as Sohei Toge searches for his brother's murderer.

If you're a fan of Tezuka I suggest you try this one out. Even if you're not, I suggest you become a fan. His style might take a while to get used to, but pretty much everything he writes is fantastic.

I still have to buy this manga. Damn, what's actually interesting about is that in Japan it was complimented for its historical accuracy, in Germany (and Europe) that was said to be one of its weaknesses.

It's almost impossible to find the first volume, but the others all seem to be relatively easy to find (online).

The problem with the historical accurateness of this manga probably stems from the fact that Adolf Hitler wasn't Jewish, while this story presents it as fact.

Nonetheless, it's a good read.

The whole family history of the "Hetler"'s is very problematic to figure out properly.
Some historians claim that Hitler's grandfather was jewish. Others claim that Hitler's parents were cousins and therefore Adolf would be in-bred (hence he had only one testicle). In fact some Nazi programms encouraged incest to breed the super-men of the master race. But historians don't share a common opinion about the family's history though these two are the most interesting theories in my opinion.

But thanks anyway for contributing this great manga.

Hey these are great! It kind of reminds me of TinTin. It has a serious tone yet the art is typical Tezuka mayhem. Thanks for all your hard work on these. Are you planning on doing the whole series?

Adolf ni Tsugu is one of the best manga in the mystery/suspense genre I've read.

It would make sense that Adolf Hitler is part jewish so that he wants to exterminate the Jews for revenge, not out of racial bigotry. His father was very abusive towards him, so he would blame his jewish grandfather for raping his paternal grandmother who was an employee in the Jewish household and siring his father.

Historians noted that one of the first things Hitler did as leader of Germany was prohibiting the "Aryan" women from working in the Jews' businesses and households.
