That's a fair point about epstein stuff (let alone how trump talked about maxwell) but people should simply be doing both things. It's 100% what democrats did and didn't do in the past that got trump back in the white house. Between biden simply not being fit to hold office for at least the past couple of years (let alone being given another presidency) and democrat's utter inability to stand for anything what else could have possibly happened? Republicans will hold the majority of power in the government for at least two years, democrats have basically that long to find anything resembling a spine and principles.
It would be shocking if anything of significance isn't redacted in whatever is released. This is just Trump throwing his podcaster audience a bone IMO.

Putting the hypocrisy aside for a second, from a pure optics standpoint and in regards to Epstein stuff - Trump at least distanced himself from Epstein before people in the Democratic establishment did. Not releasing anything on Epstein could be as much of a favor to himself as it is to others.

There are certainly some in the consultant class who are completely out of touch and have no clue but plenty of people in power do know what the average American would be motivated to vote for and they work against those things willingly. That is very much the way of things.
That's like implying the first person to run when a gunshot goes off in a crowded area is smarter than everyone else in the crowd. Hell, if anything, the fact that Trump started an immediate damage control narrative is more indicative that he had more to lose than everyone else did since they didn't see the immediacy of the threat, but he did. Perhaps they weren't in a hurry to denounce him because they haven't done anything illegal, and only distanced themselves due to the optics of being known as someone who was friendly with Epstein?
