Does anyone have a recommendation for an anti-virus program?
I've been using Norton for a long time and I'm not liking it too much anymore.

F-Secure?
Kasparsky?
AVG?
Panda?
etc...

Thanks for any help!

I'll check that out. That's what I'm looking for, something reliable and easy on the resources. Thanks!

AVG FTW! Fully-packed with features and also portable, that's what I like about it.

Don't use ZoneAlarm. It used to be good, but now its becoming a high-maintenance pain in the ass.

I would suggest NOD32. I've been using it for a long time and I am happy for it :).

Second to it would be, hmmmm, Kaspersky. Panda isn't that bad either.

I happy with my Avast and AVG. I used Norton a while ago until I dumped it for a much better Avast Professional Edition. Just don't use Norton.

Zone Alarm is a good free firewall and I read a review vere positive about his suite, not free, with firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc.

ZoneAlarm let my PC slow down, but I have to say that this is an really ooold maschine (1997) :D

On WinXp, I'm using Antivir in combination with XP-Antispy and Sygate Pesonal Firewall. All small, free and works well with my old PC.

My pc is younger, but not recent. I used antiVir but it made my pc crashs when it found trojans, if I remember correctely.

Sounds no good. But luckily i don't have any problems with Antivir.

I had a virus in the MBR two years ago, that killed my HDD in the end, bleh >__>

I don't know how but I never get a virus, or at least none that did some damage, and I surf the net very very often. For some months i didn't used antivirus and maybe neither firewall and I get only spyware.

I wont' recommend AntiVir. My friend's laptop got infected so badly by trojan; antivir didn't manage to detect any of them. I installed my avast into her laptop and cleaned up around 100 viruses from her laptop. XD

lol, nice xD

But I wouldn't say that's the fault of the software in any case.
My mother is to lazy to update the antivirus prog and just closes the firewall when it blocks something >____< ... and that's why I have to clean her PC every month.

Same with most of all infected computers. Wrong settings, unregular updates, outdated software, carelessness ... and in the end it's everyones fault but not the fault of the user itself .. there's a acronym for these people in German: DAU :D

Thanks for all the talk and suggestions. I've never had any problems with viruses and spyware. It's just that Norton is a huge resource hog and my old crappy computer isn't handling it too well.

I'm going to do a little more reading to find out more about the programs you guys recommended and then I'm going to try one program on my computer and another on my other computer.

Yup, I second that ^^ AVG is the best although Avast is good too.

I have both AVG and Avast. When I turn both of them on, Avast always detect the virus first before AVG has the chance to inform me about the virus. Hence, the winner is Avast for me. XD That's me of course. Feel free to use anything of your preference though.
