Ookiku Furikabutte a.k.a. Big Windup
Take Kuroko no Basket, replace basketball with baseball, add a few more dashes of realism, throw in an adorably/hilariously skittish protagonist and you get Ookiku Furikabutte.

All Rounder Meguru
Realism in martial arts series is the best. All Rounder Meguru provides that, plus an exccelent balance of drama and comedy.

I nominate Slam Dunk for best sports. Sannoh vs. Shohoku was incredibly well choreographed and more exciting than watching a real basketball game.

I'm supporting the nomination of All Rounder Meguru. It sense of realism, and rich details are so captivating even to non-martial art fans. Albeit the fact that the story is moving slowly, it's unfolded perfectly.

Captain Tsubasa is a classic. RRR and KSKM made me read at least some sports manga for a longer period of time.
