Hello there, everyone.
Well, this is a fanwork I wrote almost a year ago for NarutoFan's Character Battle... I wrote it: Sunday, April 10th, 2005. So.. yeah, it's a little old. But I decided to post it up to...
Anyone who knows of Naruto's Character Battle, knows that it has its difficulties. Unfortunately, I sumbitted my works around then, and therefore this was not used. And since I wrote this a YEAR ago, it is extremely out-dated, and couldn't be used today if DaDogin wanted to. Oh well, I thought I'd share it with you guys anyway....
Sorry for the redundancy of this battle, but that's the way the cards were dealt when deciding these battles so long ago. Oh well...

Rock Lee vs Gaara!
Battle 14: Rock Lee vs. Gaara
Where is he? Gaara impatiently thought to himself as he waited in the middle of the battle dome. The fans of the stadium chatted anxiously amongst themselves knowing that the following battle would be one that could not be missed. Gaara searched the arena with stern eyes looking for his opponent. Ah, there you are, Gaara whispered as his eyed locked on its target.
Rock Lee stood with his sensei, Maito Gai. I will not lose this time, Sensei, Rock Lee told his teacher. I will prove to Neji, and everyone else that I can become a great Shinobi with taijutsu alone! Make me proud, Lee, Gai cried back as a tear rolled down his cheek. Yes, Sensei! The teacher and student then hugged, and Lee went off to center stage. Kakashi raised his forehead protector revealing his Sharingan, and watched as the two combatants faced each other. This battle will be much more intense than last time.
Gaara and Rock Lee stood facing one another, focused on the task at hand. I suggest you give up now if you insist on fighting me with taijutsu only. Physical attacks have no affect on me, Gaara told Lee. I may not have any ninjutsu or genjutsu techniques, but that only makes me an even better specialist of taijutsu, Lee responded with a smirk on his face. This time I will not lose to you, Gaara of the Desert! With that, the referee stepped back and shouted, FIGHT.
Rock Lee dashed forward and threw a combo of punches and kicks at Gaara, all which were blocked by sand. Gaara hadnt moved one muscle. As expected thought Lee. Rock Lee then jumped back 30 yards from his opponent and hurled three kunai towards Gaara. Two of the kunai were deflected by the sand, and the third only landed at Gaaras feet. Pathetic. This isnt like you, Lee. Now you are relying on weapons in which you cannot even aim properly, spat Gaara. Rock Lee only smiled back at him as he looked at the third kunai he threw. Gaaras eyes opened in surprise as he looked down and noticed an exploding tag wrapped around the kunai. But Gaara realized too late and the tag exploded. Gaara was sent flying back into the battle dome walls. The explosion and impact of the wall had cracked Gaaras Suna no Tate (Shield of Sand). I was too overconfident. Even though I am okay, rebuilding my Suna no Tate consumes a lot of chakara. I cant take too many more blows like that, Gaara thought to himself.
Gaara stood up and had already covered most of his body with sand again. Gaara launched four suna shuriken (sand shuriken) at Lee. Lee dodged them all too easily. But at the last second, he noticed two more suna shuriken approaching him from behind out of nowhere. What?! Lee could only completely dodge the first shuriken, but had his left arm slightly sliced by the second. The cut deep was enough to make Lee drip blood onto the stadium floor despite the fact. Last time we fought the only sand I had was in my gourd, but this time the ground is made of sand, said Gaara. I can manipulate my surroundings to however I please. Now take off your weights if you really want to fight me. I can see you are very serious, and I will be too for this point on. I will take off my weights, but let me to warn you that these weights are much heavier than before.
As soon as Lee took off his weights, he disappeared. Gaara felt a punch that knocked him ten feet back. The sand did not even attempt to protect Gaara until after he was hit. Lee appeared behind Gaara. KONOHA SENPUU (LEAF SPINNING WIND)! Lee kicked Gaara face-first into the stadium wall once again. Impossible! Kakashi contemplated as he watched the fight. His movements are becoming difficult to follow with the Sharingan! Gaara turned around and frantically searched the arena for his adversary. This isnt good. My Suna no Yoroi (Armor of sand) is falling too quickly. At this rate I might actually get It was too late. KONOHA REPPUU (LEAF VIOLENT WIND)! Blood flung out of Gaaras mouth onto the stadium grounds. Gaara was forced to use Shunshin no Jutsu (Body Flicker Technique) to transport to the other side of the dome. I warned you, Gaara, shouted Lee, I am much faster than the last time we fought. To me, it is as if that sand isnt even there. GOOD JOB, LEE! yelled Gai. Lees eye began to water as he turned around and gave Gai thumbs up. Thank you, Gai-sensei.
Its not safe for me to continue fighting like this. It seems that my sand cannot save this time. Gaara tried to catch Lee with his sand but had no luck, Lee was too quick. This will use a lot of my chakara, but I have no choice, BAKARYU RYUSA (DESERT AVALANCHE)! A tsunami of sand rose that was the full width of the stadium, Lee had no escape around it. Just as Bakuryu Ryusa collapsed on top of Lee, he disappeared. You have nowhere to go, Lee, whispered Gaara. Wrong! But I did only one place to go, a voice yelled from above, Up! When Gaara looked up, Lee sent a kick directly onto his face. He jumped over my Bakuryu Ryusa?! thought Gaara as his blood shot from the newly opened wound. Maybe that jutsu would have worked if I hadnt seen you use it against Kimimaro, pronounced Lee, Its over, Gaara. RENGE (LOTUS)! Lee delivered an upward kick to Gaaras chin, but his foot kept going through Gaaras head! What?! This is Kawarimi no Jutsu (Body Substitute Skill)! Gaaras body turned in sand and wrapped around Lees leg. You were right, it is over, said Gaara who was really behind him, I finally caught you, Lee. Lee struggled to free himself from the sand but was stuck. Its no use, you cant escape. Ill end this now. SABAKU KYUU (DESERT COFFIN). The rest of Lees body was then covered with sand. Gaara reached out his hand and exclaimed, SABAKU SOUSOU (DESERT GRAVEYARD)! and closed his hand. But the coffin did not explode. Gaara eyes widened as he tried again, SABAKU SOUSOU (DESERT GRAVEYARD)! and closed his hand again. Still no luck. Why isnt this working?! thought Gaara.
Suddenly, THIRD GATE, SEI-MON (LIFE GATE) OPEN! came from inside the Sabaku Kyuu. Gaaras eyes broadened even more. Not that Jutsu! thought Gaara. Next, FOURTH GATE, SHO-MON (HARM GATE) OPEN! called out from the Kyuu. Gaara knew what would happen next, so he used the sand in his gourd to float himself in the air because he knew it wouldnt be safe on the ground. He quickly began making hand seals to complete his Ultimate Defense Shield of Sand (Sphere of Sand). Simultaneously to this, Rock Lee finally proclaimed, FIFTH GATE, TO-MON (LIMIT GATE) OPEN! Lee burst through the Sabaku Kyuu and had chakara emitting which caused rocks and debris to be lifted all around him. His eyes were completely white and his body was burning red. Lee looked up into the sky of the roofless arena and found his target, Gaara. But by this time Gaara was already inside of his Ultimate Defense of Sand Shield, and was already working on another jutsu, DAISAN NO ME (THIRD EYE)! Even though Gaara was completely surrounded by sand, he could still see Rock Lee. Lee realized this but he didnt care. URA RENGE (REVERSE LOTUS)! shouted Lee as he pounded the Ultimate Defenses exterior continuously. Gaara thought he was safe until his defense started to crack.
But Ura Renge is a double-edged sword. Even though Lee began to break through Gaaras Ultimate Defense, he was really losing the battle. His left arm was already injured from the suna shuriken earlier in the battle and now had every muscle in that arm snap. Lee knew he couldnt last much longer, so he threw his next punch harder than all the rest he threw. Lees right fist broke right through the Ultimate Defense Shield of Sand and continued to make a direct connection to Gaaras Jaw. Gaara flew out of his defense and off his cloud of sand onto the stadium grounds. Fortunately for Gaara, the sand that was originally in his gourd caught him as he hit the floor. Gaara still hit the ground hard enough to make a large crater, but he did not receive the full impact of the fall.
Rock Lee landed into the arena shakily, but firm enough to stand. Both of his arms were finished, destroyed from the overwhelming stress. He was exhausted, along with Gaara. Rock Lee knew that if he used Konoha Senpuu with his current state of Ura Renge that it would finish Gaara. But Gaara too knew that if he took another blow that he would be finished. He also knew that when Lee attacked him that he wouldnt be able to perceive Lees attack. The next move would decide the outcome of the battle. So Gaara cornered himself, gathered all of his remaining chakara, and yelled SAIKOU ZETTAI BOUGYO, SHUKAKU NO TAYE (SPREME ABSOLUTE DEFENSE, SHIELD OF SHUKAKU)! A mini sand sculpture of Shukaku (demon within Gaara) appeared in front of Gaara. Rock Lee remembered that jutsu from the battle Gaara had with Kimimaro; FLASHBACK Gaara, I collected the minerals with the highest tensile strength from the ground, added pressure with my Chakara and mixed them with the sand. Rock Lee knew that that sand would be tremendously difficult to penetrate, but he had to try. With that, Rock Lee shouted, SIXTH GATE, KEI-MON (VIEW GATE) OPEN! followed by, KONOHA SENPUU! Lee dashed at lighting speed, closed his eyes, and stroked the Saikou Zetti Bougyo with all of his might.
When he opened his eyes, he was being held by Kakashi and Gai. He looked down and noticed he had only gotten half way through Gaaras Supreme defense. Lee smiled, and then passed out. You fought well, Lee, Gai told his student. Gaara stood up straight and all of his sand returned to gourd on his back. Why did you discontinue the fight? asked Gaara. If we hadnt, Lee would have completely shattered his leg, and would be dead right now, answered Kakashi, To open up the six of the Eight Celestial Inner Body Gates is amazing, but puts too much stress on the body. Will he be okay? asked Gaara with a straight, unemotional face. Yes, with Tsunade as Hokage Lee should survive. Gaara then turned and walked out of the arena, appearing as if he never fought in a battle.
"WINNER: GAARA!"
