Greetings everyone,
I thought I would try writing a brief review (gigantor21 style, sans pictures) about the latest chapter in Bleach. I know I am probably in the minority of people who have enjoyed this arc, but I do, and it is hard to say exactly why. Part of it is I am just an optimist and tend to see the good parts.
So we get to see Neliel's release: a centaur. I think this fits her character perfectly. Remember back a coiuple chapters during the flashback when Neliel told Nnoitra that rational people need a reason to fight, and going from hollow to arrancar, they regained some conciousness. I say this fits because Neliel is a rational, reasoning espada. In mythology, centaurs are always characterized as wise, rational beings who value wisdom. That being said, I think it makes perfect sense why her released form is what it is.
Neliel launches an attack by throwing her "green lance" at Nnoitra. He blocks it with his scythe, but there is such power in the attack that the scythe cracks and Nnoitra is wounded.
We are then taken back to Szayel Aporro and Pesche and Dondo. I enjoyed the humor here with Pesche and his Ultima sword and how it was similar to Uryuu's "thingy."
We then get the evercommon shonen theme of hard work trumping genius with the cero sincretico. My only question here is how do arrancar power up, if like we were told during Grimmjaw's flashback that arrancar have limits. Oh well, I hope this cero ends this fight.
Nel reverts back to her child mode and everyone is stunned. Nnoitra takes advantage of this and it things are once again bleak for Ichigo and friends. Nel's reiatsu must have spiked due to the emotions she felt for Ichigo, but then the reiatsu leaked through the crack in her mask.
All in all, a solid chapter imho, but we are left with numerous questions. Hopefully, Kubo will give us hints next week. I have a feeling Dondo and Pesche will hurry to Nel's side. We'll have to wait and see what the fate of Szayel Aporro is. I am eager to see what awaits us next week.
