Summary and Preview:
When 10-year-old Kaneda Shota was involved in a car accident that claimed the life of his father, it changed the course of his life forever. Even though his mother got a job and tried her best to support her son, money was always tight. Now, unable to afford college, Shota works a part-time job, in addition to his full-time job at his uncle's factory. He dreams of one day saving enough money to go to college. He lives alone, on the second floor of one of his uncle's warehouses, and doesn't have any friends. Everywhere he goes, he rides a bicycle, with headphones to block out the flashback-inducing sounds of the cars.

His quiet way of life is about to be interrupted. Due to pressures from the economy, Shota's job at his uncle's factory is going to be cut to half-time/half-pay for a while. In addition, Shota's uncle has agreed to lend the first floor of Shota's warehouse to a college club. This club is building a solar car to enter in a race, and they're hoping to get Shota to lend them his mechanical expertise. Will Yazaki Junko and the other club members be able to handle Shota's anger and bitterness, and draw him out of his self-imposed isolation? [tethysdust]

So far, I pretty like this series, but I don't want it to be end early. I hope it'll last long.

I liked it for its potential based on ch 1. Could lead to some excellent character development. I'm now impatiently waiting for ch 2 raws...

So far I've only found the color page from chapter 2, thank you ayumikat for the scan.

I think this story has lots of potential, Shouta doesn't want to talk or be friends with anyone, so we'll see a progression in that area. The final arc in this series will most likely be Suzuka Dream Cup. I think it could take a long time for this series to develop, I really want to read more.

I just read chapter 3, and I think story is kind of flowing too fast. I don't want this series to last very short.

Also, there was small cameos from Eyeshield 21.

It seemed to be going too fast, but the cliffhanger at the of of ch. 3 changed it. Might take some time to resolve that one.

As I read up to chapter 4, there is barely or no explanation on solar car. I wonder if the story author only aimed on youth story, like Adachi Mitsuru. If he does, then I don't see any point on putting solar car.

Also, the time flow is really fast, so I wonder if the author aimed to do this series in short-term.

I'd rather see Murata turn Minds into a full length series rather than Solar Car. The author is going very fast with the story and I don't know how long it can continue. After they finish building and racing the car I can't see where it would go at all. So far the story is enjoyable.

They have to work out their personal issues, and then build the car. That should start around chapter 6 at this rate.

Well, they already started building cars. So, I think the author should have introduced/explain parts of solar car.

Well, since the ranking for Donten is starting to decline, I don't want this series to end just having drama. At this rate, only hope for Donten will be its tank sales.

Does anyone know Ohtagaki's other work, Moonlight Mile, has fast time flows, like this one?

Since Jump SQ going to have 3 new series, so I want to others' opinion on possibility for Donten to end within next few month because of its rapid story flow.

After reading chapter 5 there's still some progress to make on the car. But I don't know how long that would take, certain technical problems could arise. I may have to check back at the other chapters to find out the exact date of this race. Also this is the 2nd chapter in a row when it ends with someone crying. Last time it was a sad note but this had a better feeling.

the releases are hell slow tbh, DPSC should hurry with its release,so far we havnent seen much plot twists so far, i mean nothing out of the regular parameters, from the first chap we knew that girl had sth to do with the accident and we saw that , we knew he would make it in to uni he did and we knew there would be a romantic buildup between them we are seeing that as well

Chapter 6 made the series go by so fast in only a few pages. Worst part was all the pages with no text making time skip without any back story. Chapter 7, they are finally at the race and it underwhelming. I would rather see a race with sun shining than storm clouds and rain. But the winds have made things interesting. Perhaps ch. 8 the race will end and ch. 9 the series comes to an end.
