Chapter 290: Dabi's Dance

The chapter that changed it all. For years, fans had been speculating and gathering hints of information that proved Dabi was a certain someone that was supposed to be dead. The theory was accepted by most of the fans to be true, so when it was confirmed in chapter 290 it didn't come as a shock.

What was shocking was the way HOW the reveal was handled. It was a revelry and it was amazing. Dabi reveled in finally revealing what he had been holding back all this time, we reveled in his glee and in Shoto's and Enji's horror. Never before had we seen so much emotion from Dabi, and seeing the effect the reveal had on those watching him, knowing the extent he had gone to with the video, showing the video to everyone in Japan... Dabi's speech shown to us over views of destroyed city scapes with crying children and dead people and blood...

Aside from the Dabi reveal and memorable quotes ("The past never dies!" "You reap what you sow!" "Let's tango, you and me, Enji Todoroki!" "A dance with your son, right here in hell!"), we also got wonderful shots of Shoto and Nejire vs Shigaraki, and a magnificent panel of Gigantomachia entering the battlefield.

The impact that this chapter had on the fandom AND canonically on MHA society cannot be understated. It hit like a bomb.
This chapter even had a tangible impact on the real world! Chapter 290 and Dabi's reveal outtrended the US presidential elections on Twitter! Millions of people using Twitter were left to wonder just who this Dabi person even was and why he was more important than their future president.
