My friend used to write letters to him back in the day. He even had one of his puns published. I'll have to ask him which one but it looks like there should be a Xanth thread.
Yes, I had two puns published so far :D And I'm actually due to have one or two puns published in the next book, I think... anyhow, P.A.'s such a nice guy - he really is a great credit to the writing profession. But don't worry about a Xanth thread - it's probably more of an acquired taste than ever now. ^^ (Though I could probably answer a lot of questions about it for anybody interested!)

Anyway, I'm going to start back on Discword this week. I wonder if you guys won't mind a few comments every now and then on the early books? :)

Also, I saw a really cool Art of Discworld book at Barnes & Noble the other day. It looks fantastic. I'm actually probably going to get it this year, I think, even if I'm not that big of a fan of the series right now.

The idea is to discuss so even if your not a fan stating why is still discussion. I would recommend however if you can getting your hands on a copy of the Hogfather DVD, it is an absolutely fantastic adaptation and while somethings are missing its great to watch!

But still enjoy =p

I'm debating about what Pratchett novel to read next. Either "Guards! Guards!" or "Good Omens" with Neil Gaiman (not part of the Discworld series). I've only read Discworld books so I'd like to try some of Pratchett's other works. Has anyone else read anything other than Discworld?

Side Note:

I didn't realize that Xanth was still on going. I might have to try out Xanth again.

but what is there to talk about the world on the turtle?

i mean its one of those series that are so well written that you are left with just praise. atleast to me i dont know about you.

OH! i just thought of something to talk about.
do you think that Carrot will ever become king? i know that he doesnt want to and all that but imagine if Vetinary dies and some complete maniac bastard takes over.
would he take the throne for the good of the people?

I always imagined he would become King but its not the sort of thing that would likely happen. Maybe he would become a figurehead sort of king but I mean would it really work out. Maybe then Angua would have to be Queen...I can't see that arrangement working out either.

Hm, I found this article recently, I don't think anyone has posted it:

"One of geekdom's most popular authors, Terry Pratchett, has announced that he has been diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's. The OBE-winning author of the Discworld fantasy series made the original announcement on the website of Discworld illustrator Paul Kidby. Pratchett remains optimistic: 'I would just like to draw attention to everyone reading the above that this should be interpreted as 'I am not dead'. I will, of course, be dead at some future point, as will everybody else. For me, this maybe further off than you think - it's too soon to tell.'"

Figured you DiscWorld fans would want to know, if you didn't already

Yeah, I was actually just about to come post news about this and found this posted xD It sucks but I think any major problems are way off for now!
