Now, since Gin and me got into this on MSN, we got curious what "thank you" and "you're welcome" means in other languages. And since this is a very multi-lingual forum, i'm quite sure we can create a nice long list here!

Share your knowledge with out, everyone! :D

--------------------

[mod=Az]Since pjboom suggested adding "I love you", I thought it would be interesting and who knows, it could help blossom your love life. ;) [/mod]

When posting the phrases in your language, make sure you check that it's not in the list! We wouldn't want anything doubling up! :p If you can, please fill in the blanks! It would be appreciated! ~Iceiphoenix

Re: How to say "Thank You" and "You're Welcome" in your language

Filipino

Thank you = Salamat (Maraming salamat if you want to say "Thank you very much" or the more literal "Thanks a lot/Many thanks")
You're welcome = Walang anuman ("No problem" is closer in meaning than "you're welcome" though)

Re: How to say "Thank You" and "You're Welcome" in your language

In Dutch it's:

"Thank you" -> "Dankjewel" or "Dank u" (= more formal than "Dankjewel", though much used). ^^

And "You're welcome" -> "Graag gedaan"

If you want to know any other Dutch words, just ask! :D

Re: How to say "Thank You" and "You're Welcome" in your language

"salamat" and "walang anuman" are the more traditional ways of saying "thank you" and "you're welcome" in Filipino. though if you want to say "you're welcome" in a less traditinal way you can say:

"ayos lang" (literally translates as "it's ok/ alright")
"wala yun" (literally translates as "it's nothing" or "no problem")
or
"sige" (literally translates as "sure" or "ok" or "go ahead")

or if you really wanna be Filipino just nod (and raise your eyebrows) or give a thumbs up for saying "thank you" and "you're welcome"...

Actually, polish "thank You" is "Dziękuje", and prounanciation would be somewhat "Dzienkuje".
For "You're Welcome" it is "Proszę", and prounaciation (or how it is spellt ;p) would be "Prosze", but sound with "sz" would be like saying "s" and adding sound "sua" from english ^^
