They manage to convince Kirara and Hakari to help them out.

Yuji got beat up pretty badly by Hakari and he threw him out of the room, Yuji wasn't able to even hit Hakari.

Chapter 157: Components

Megumi and Panda tries to convince Kirara to help and succeeded.
Itadori is knocked flying out of the room.
Itadori is beat up by Hakari, but doesn't hit back.
Without his 'heat/passion,' Hakari cools off.
Somehow, Hakari agrees to help.
End chapter.

Kirara was convinced after Megumi kneeling down on the ground.
Yuji held back (didn’t fight) Hakari since they came to ask for his help.
Kirara shouted out “Kin-chan please help them”.
Hakari asked why total strangers like Megumi and Yuji asked for his help.
Megumi replied that many senpais in Jujutsu high told him that Hakari is very strong.
Kin-chan got angry.
Hakari: So you came here because someone else told you so?
Everytime Yuji got beaten by Hakari, he got scars as if beaten by a bat which has file (metal/needle file).
Hakari: according to Gojo, my cursed energy is rough/coarse (grainy/scratchy).
No matter how many times Hakari beat him, Yuji just stood up.
Kirara: “Kin-chan, you get heated up, don’t you?”
Hakari: “gulp/erk/urk/geh!”
Hakari: All of you, come down.
Let’s make a deal.

Yuji hasn't fought back against Hakari this whole time not because he isn't able to hit Hakari. He simply describes himself as a cog in the machine that allows sorcerers to continue exorcising curses.

Hakari hits Yuji pretty badly. Yuji asks Hakari seriously after getting up again, what is the part that you play in? Hakari recognizes this as the passion that he has been looking for, and he agrees to help.


Kirara says that Hakari hates the higher-ups but that didn't stop him from helping people out, he was the most fired up when he was helping people at Jujutsu High.

Okay, Yuuji is in serious mode and goes all 'submissive' (lack of a better word) in order to achieve their plan. I see you~
It's good to see him like this from time to time - He's such a happy-go-lucky character most of the time after all.

Will still read the official translation when it comes out though, I always feel like that one just makes things a bit more clear for me. The whole cog situation is something I had to reread to understand it haha.
Interesting metaphor though, I like that it emphasizes its' something they all have a role in, they each have their parts to play rather than having 1 hero that saves everyone.

Is this the best shonen protagonist we had in a while? I accept only yes as answer. I like how honest both him and Megumi are based on their wishes and objectives.

Then why asking? LOL.Yuji is good person but like... his character setup was hell weak for me. And when you had bad start it hard to overgrow it.

Yuji is getting better as protagonistc definetly (early Yuji was darn boring). I like the cog metaphore - it's something that's definetly is gonna come back and get questioned by characters that want to dismantle/re-engineer/destroy the whole machine (Yuki, Geto, Kenjaku, Mahito etc). That will make interesting conflict that challenges Ita dori and make character developement and drama.

Also, the fan translations were a lot better in this case. The official version was very confusing.

Hakari seems cool. I've always liked good-hearted deliquent/yakuza type of characters.

I think that's always been the point of Yuji. To grow accordingly (unlike Ichigo for eg) as the story progress. And he def been keepin up to date with the jujutsu world and it's denizens, how it works, his importance...

Yo he def gave me some Yakuza/GTO vibes too. Im liking the guy even before he's fully bloom as a character.

I dont know pal, it doesnt sound as a common mindset for a shonen MC to have imo.

The Naruto one seems as a terrible example to me, specially since that whole exchange was about Naruto being the "child of prophecy" and it indeed up concluding exactly as that, Naruto was the chosen one and he will find the answers Jiraiya couldnt.

The Haikyuu one is more fair tho, although thats more tecnicism terms used within spokon series, rather than your usual "save the world " type, still fair.
