The thematic scenery in Yuji’s domain suggests that the nature of it is nonviolent. Could be a “violence is prohibited, and they either leave together or not at all” kind of deal. Matrix 3 had a similar plot device with the train man.

Between sumo dude, the prosecutor, the comedian, and others with unusual domains, Yuji has seen a variety of ways to execute a domain.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the answer Yuji came up with for beating Sukuna is something out of the box of cursed energy violence.

Who knows, the only escape from this domain may be Sukuna relinquishing Fushigoro and possessing Yuji again, so a “only Itadori Yuji and Fushigoro Megumi may leave” condition. So Yuji might’ve completely nerfed his domain to target only one possible scenario.

LOL, so many haters here. I kinda like all this development. Can't wait to see it animated, as well.

And I really love the setting of this particular domain. Seems so different than the others. Like a spiritual journey. That actually matches Yuuji a lot. I foresee a Sukuna's life flashback.

I'm super curious to see a "how Sukuna became...Sukuna" backstory. If that's what's going to happen here, they will likely also show "how Yuji became Yuji". One can probably safely assume that at the end of this, Yuji will most likely safely have Sukuna locked away inside of him, with no binding vow of an escape route this time.

If you think about it, why did Sukuna figure out how to turn himself into cursed objects and gain immortality? He was already basically omnipotent. But immortal? That one hasn't been answered. It was never stated in the plot how Sukuna himself...ceased to be, for hundreds of years. So why team up with Kenjaku and figure out how to turn yourself into a cursed object and gain immortality through reincarnation? The answer, to me, must be fear of death.

So Sukuna actually DOES have emotions, at least one - fear. Since Sukuna is the strongest, he's actually the being most afraid of death, since JJK's lore basically says that negative emotions basically equals cursed energy.

I think Yuji may corner him and basically offer him either death or infinite limbo inside his domain, or the chance to leave - incarnated into Yuji, but with a binding vow that strips him of his ability to ever take over or leave Yuji's body.

Almost like a Being John Malkovich scenario - Sukuna gets to live forever, but as a spectator only, and gets to maintain his ego of being the strongest, as his host will forever be able to tap into his powers.

This would set us up well for whatever the hell happens with Kenjaku's endgame with Tengen and the merger. I WILL be disappointed if that plotline gets abandoned completely.

EDIT - I reread the chapter and -

Doubling down on Yuji having found an alternate way to end this fight than through simply overpowering Sukuna.

I find it quite telling that Yuji's domain has changed Sukuna's appearance - both his body and his clothing - to be the same as Yuji's. I think we're in for some "I'm you...and you're me" talk-no-jutsu stuff here.

Guess Jacob's Ladder didn't really do much or if it did we won't see the effects until later. Cool to see Yuji develop so much but wish it had been more gradual over the last couple of arcs. Feel like he went from mid to top tier way too quickly and easily. Guess even JJK can't escape shounen power creep.

The domain looks pretty cool and might connect to the emotions Yuji felt after the shibuya arc. I really hope it is unique/interesting but fear it will turn into talk no jutsu type of power.

Even if non-violent, there are many ways to still have combat between them that shouldn't just be Yuji convincing Sukuna to do something like, hey come back to my body and we'll share it as equals or something. But I do think if we really see Sukuna at large he's not exactly evil with great evil agenda to rule/destroy the world, he's just some super overpowered asshole that as the emotional maturity of a child. So I think gege might go the route of just "fixing" Sukuna's personality without defeating him a la Shaman King (maybe he just needs his mommy 😂 ).

I imagine Yuji would have a non conventional domain ever since takaba domain was something that even Kenjaku couldn't escape with brute force.

Did Takaba even do a domain or was that just his cursed technique? If I recall correctly, Kenjaku didn't even try to escape, he just realized that Takaba's intention with his cursed technique was a nonviolent one and all Kenny needed to do was basically get caught up in the fun and participate in Takaba's manifested daydream of being a comedian.

Takaba WAS the type who sort of blurred the line between technique and domain - he himself was nonviolent by nature, the violent use of his cursed technique was limited to the comedic "tsukomi" moments where the straight man would fan-slap the goofball, and his cursed technique affected the outside world in a sort of all-encompassing way that a domain expansion would.

A friend of mine mentioned how this is similar to chapter 236 where Gojo gets to sit on a bench and have a conversation with Geto as part of his dying process. Could be that Sukana died the moment Yuji activated his domain and this convo that we're about to see him have with Itadori is part of his dying process and after it ends we'll see Fushiguro lying there barely breathing but still alive.

All these machinations. All these variations of attack patterns and combinations. All these "what if the heroes tried (insert creative interpretation of JJK magic logic here)". All this, and what finally takes out Sukuna is... a pale copy of himself.

In the span of a single month of training and a single real-world fight, Yuji:
  • learns one of the arguably most versatile cursed technique around (blood manipulation)
  • learns reverse cursed technique
  • learns simple domain
  • manifests and immediately effectively uses Sukuna's innate cursed techniques (dismantle thus far)
  • manifests a fully fleshed domain, AND uses it at exactly the right moment
Yuji went from being a heavy-punching fodder character to a veritable Mary Sue.

Itadori will remove sukuna's CT inside his domain and will put sukuna into scenarios where brothers/friends will fight together to fight other teens. This is itadori's memory of some old friends whom he used to fight together with.
Sukuna will first try to refuse but will start cooperating with Yuji against hordes of other teens. After they fight, they will laugh and sukuna will understand something.

He already off-screened final blow to Gojo. It would be very much Gege like. I also think that Sukuna is already dead.

It's kinda difficult to call someone a Mary sue if the power system of that story support this kind of thing and had happened previously to a different character on a somewhat different scale.

Sure, except until literally a month ago he was able to do ...absolutely...nothing, except being a lucky puncher with all the black flashes.

In fact, he was the same as powerfull a month ago but he just choose to left Gojo and Yuta die without using his trump cards. 😂
“ Do you smash your knife before a battle?” ( dune 2) yes,in jjk you do.

I'm not saying that this wasn't Yuji's intended power growth arc, it's just...all of his growth is ALL AT ONCE.
Let's look at a more believable growth arc (yes, I'm using Naruto).

-he's got nothing special other than lots of endurance
-he's learning the basics, with no special techniques, but he occasionally loses his cool and his base power increases in a berserker mode
-he learns a special technique (summoning) - mini-arc
-he learns a special technique (rasengan) - mini-arc
-timeskip, he's ...better at everything but hasn't learned anything "new"
-he learns a special technique (wind control)
-he tames the 9-tails (whole arc)
-he befriends the 9-tails (mini-arc)
-he gets sage of 6-paths powerup (end-game instant powerup)

Now let's compare to Yuji:
-he starts out with heavenly-restriction level base physicality
-oh and an inborn ability to eat cursed objects containing souls without being overtaken by that soul
-he learns basic cursed energy control (the "divergent fist") - mini-arc
-he starts throwing black flashes.
...
...
...
-he figures out how to target Mahito's "soul" with the black flashes
...
...
...
...
-training arc time! almost entirely off-screen.
-in one fight, over one single day, not even more than an hour, he shows:
-cursed blood manipulation:
-as a poison
-that whole supernova explosion thing
-as a water cutter - I think?
-reverse cursed energy healing
-simple domain

OK, so that's all stuff he apparently off-panel learned in the month. Now let's add on:
-manifesting Sukuna's cursed technique (mid-battle)
-figuring out how to target Sukuna's soul with it (again, mid-battle, but he already knew how to do that with the black flashes, so maybe it shouldn't count?)
-oh and now a DOMAIN EXPANSION. LITERALLY THE HIGHEST ACHIEVEMENT OF GROWTH WITHIN THIS UNIVERSE.

So Yuji went from...basically an unremarkable heavy puncher, and convenient cursed object storage medium, to literally on-par with SUKUNA...in a single fight. Sure he had a month training arc but dude, all of this has been shown IN A SINGLE FIGHT.

Yuji's either Gege's Mary-Sue or we have to admit that Gege's character development pacing is just...terrible.
