I was fine with Nobara being "dead" but I
actually did like her return except I kinda
felt like the cover page ruined the surprise.
I mean sure Nobara on the cover doesn't
automatically mean she will be in the chapter but it gets you thinking I think.

I know the chances are slim but I want
268 to be Hakari vs Uraume.

I ADORED this chapter. And to be honest, the pacing after killing Gojo has been phenomenal. It feels like a hard-to-beat boss with thousands of tricks, a mountain to climb. It has been very very entertaining.
Agreed. I like how back up plan after back plan after back up plan fails but at the same time they kinda all build up on each other
until you get some surprises and that final
hit by Yuji.

I always had hope Nobara would be back and now she confirmed my theory that she and Yuji would put an end to Sukuna using Ressonance.
But now begs me the question: why didn't she use Ressonance on the fingers to begin with?

Cause there would be no story as dumb as it sounds.

Same as to why it wasn't used sooner just when she woke up or why Yuta didn't copy her technique and didn't use.

4 Chapters left so I would bet that Merger won't take place and that whole military invasion plotline was abandoned unless Gege will continue the series with some Burito but I doubt it.

They...sort of... explain why Yuta couldn't use her technique: he needs to eat a really big part of her body for something that badass and his copies are shallow imitations of the original benefitting greatly from the original teaching him how to use them.

But yeah it's a huge retcon.

Honestly Gege's been kind of crapping the bed since the end of Shibuya. The world building, the sudden cast expansion, the hastily inserted retconned pathos to explain why the main characters should even care about the expanded cast, etc etc etc

the biggest disappointment for me was Yuta's use of Kenjaku's technique to take over Gojo's body. It didn't affect the fight whatsoever or even the plot considering he burnt out about 30s later. Honestly it felt more of a "you like Gojo? Well f**** you! I hate Gojo" from Gege.

While I suspect that it's only for narrative purposes, a possible explanation could be that unless they limited Sukuna's power the technique wouldn't be as effective. I mean, they also have Jacob's Ladder which Sukuna prevented often. So I'm guessing they were discarding Sukuna's tools, one by one, before using this Triumph card. It's the same with Yuuji going last and Gojo going first.

I think a lot of complaints with JJK would be settled if Gege could just decide whether it's a fighting manga or an adventure manga with magical conflict.

The author is kind of trying to do both but in a super hamfisted way. About on par with the whole "defeat your current enemy or he will blow up the earth!" Which seems to pop up in every goddsmned DBZ fight.

the difference being: in one, the fighting IS the plot, and in the other, the fighting is merely a tool to advance the plot forward.

fullmetal alchemist and chainsaw man are perfect examples of the latter. Oh, as is Solo Leveling. As fun as the magic systems are, they're used as storytelling devices to drive the plot and character development forward. At no point in either title would a "let's compare the power levels or have a fantasy match up" forum conversation make any sense.

As much as I loved Akita Toriyama and grew up watching Dragonball, I sometimes wish he'd never invented power levels as a concept or popularized fighting tournaments of supernatural characters as a plot arc.

I think all shonen would be better for it.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm sad that we've had endless chapters of trying to rocks paper scissors Sukuna to death when I've been mostly curious about who Sukuna really is, who Yuji really is, what will happen with Tengen merging with humanity, and what the "solution" to cursed energy is going to eventually look like - will it be a nation of Toji-like supermen, or will everyone just become a wizard?

I think most manga are straight up allowed to drop the ball with their stories like that, simply because nowadays it's much easier and more profitable to just generate hype. JJK is probably selling hundreds of millions in merchandise (mostly non-licensed), so as far as the people that are on top of it are concerned, it's a good product. Nobody really wants to tell stories anymore, just sell stuff to other people. You can't stamp character development in a shirt and sell it to teenagers.

Well that's depressing. Though if it's unlicensed product the people making JJK aren't making a dime off it so that undercuts your argument.

Its just to show how it all doesnt matter in the face of greed. It's all about profit and hype, even for the fans and people unrelated to the production company

Yeah but you're contradicting yourself here. If it's about profit - unlicensed merch makes you no profit. Literally the profit from merch comes from the licensing of it.
