I wan to improve. I know that not having tablet access holds me back, but I want to understand why I get 0 to 1 votes. Is it color choice? Cleaning level? Is it overall technique? Or maybe manga picked?

I'm not looking for a tear me apart critique but (an) area(s) that's consistently unappealing that I can sort out. Maybe it is the fact I use a mouse, or maybe it's something else? If anyone could point out areas to work on, that would be nice.

I don't need to win, I just want to see a validation of the time I put into my colorings, even if it's just 1 - 2 votes every time.

Having a tablet or not doesn't make a world of difference, it's just a matter of preference and style. Anyway, first off. Your color choices seems to be very saturated or non-harmonic (i.e not fitting as a whole). Try using more desaturated colors and pick some shading colors that are a little more saturated and darker than your base color for stuff like skin. All about the setting. Try eyedropping colors from an anime and see how they make their color choices for base colors and shading colors.

Your cleaning doesn't really seem to make a difference, though the lineart in http://mangahelpers.com/photoplog/images/24356/1_00042k7c.png is bad. (Also an example of way too saturated colors).

Anyway, the most important thing is your shading. Judging from some of your earlier works, it seems you have an idea about cell-shading, while now you seem to make some rough cell-shading and blurring it out. Here's the important BBB thing that I can't stress enough:

Blending by Blur is Bad

I can see that you have the idea about a lightsource, so that should be OK. The problem with your colorings are the blending. Either first try to improve your cell-shading (Zarosaki has a simple cell-shading tutorial here. I also know that Dynamic Drag has posted a nice cell-shading tutorial somewhere on the forum, try looking for that. If you drop the saturated colors and combine with cellie I can imagine a better result. If you wanna go for soft-shading, there are several tutorials for that, I'm too lazy to individually link to them, but they can be found at our forum here.

Also, white line on http://mangahelpers.com/photoplog/images/24356/1_holicc131p3_copy.png is a a no-go. Clean stuff like that.
Also, from my own experience, more popular series tends to get more votes due to familiarity.

So, to sum up. Don't use blur to blend, see the tutorials for how to do it. Improve your lightsource and shading placement, though it seems to be OK, it's just that it's hard to tell due to the heavy blurring. Also, I can imagine some more contrast in your pictures (more difference between the light and dark shadings) combined with less saturation (saturation being strong colors). And practice makes almost-perfect.

Hope this helps! Good luck with further coloring <3
