Hi everyone and welcome to the biweekly art contest. This time, it's the Avatar & Signature set category. The theme is Anime Nostalgia. It's your task to create both the avatar and signature.

Theme: Anime Nostalgia​

What do I need to know before submission?

• All members are welcome to join the contest. There is no minimum post or user status you need to have to participate.
• Entries for the contest must be posted in this thread.
• Each participant can only submit ONE ENTRY and it should be a new piece. So don’t try to be smart and enter a piece used in past contests.
• Use MangaHelpers’ HERE to upload your entries. Any problem with uploading, let us know.
• Submissions not following the weeks theme will result in disqualification. If you have any question about the contest, you can ask it here.
• You must credit the artist of the stock images you’re using (see example below). This goes from renders to brushes and textures. If it’s all original art, write so in the credits.
• Forum Rules are applied unless stated otherwise. That means your signature must not exceed 600 x 200px and 500KB. For avatars, the maximum size is 150 x 300px and 100KB.
• No excessive, suggestive, spoiler, or porn-related imagery in the contest.
• Plagiarizing will result in immediate disqualification from this contest and possibly future contests also. Leadership point deductions, loss of artist status and badges, and/or account bans may also occur.
• Submission is open until March 22, at 23:00 (GMT)

How do I upload and submit my entry?

1. Go HERE.
2. Click the "Upload Image" button.
3. After upload is completed, you'll be shown your uploaded image with an edit box for commentary/additional information. After adding necessary information you wish, click "Save Media" and you'll be brought to the sharing media page.
4. Choose the "Share BB Code" and post within this thread; choosing this will save you having to select any additional codes you want to post here.
5. For more information on how to use the media gallery and uploading, go HERE.

Post Format:

(Large size thumbnail - upload image to image gallery.)

Probably the most nostalgic 'anime' for me is Tanoshii Mumin Ikka, also known as The Moomin, from 1990. An adaptation on the Tove Jansson original stories. As I child I was completly obsessed bu this series, and it is was introduced me to the original art of Jansson, which has been a huge thing for me every since.

Both images are from Moomin Wiki. Textured and edited by me in Photoshop CC.

I really wanted to feauture both Naruto and Sasuke in the avatar as well but just didn't find a base render that I liked and could work with.

Wow, that took me a little while XD

I was debating either this or Pokemon, even almost uploading the latter here. But decided to go for Bleach instead. Bleach was special to me. Yeah, it's not perfect. It took a massive nosedive until the end. But, it was one of the first anime I have watched and I am deeply grateful for it. With new announcements on the way, I will stick by it. Okay, mostly.

Also, ice dragon boi is best boi don't @ me.

Mononoke hime is my favorite Miyazaki movie, love its art, and characters, it has something magical and fits perfectly the topic, i think.

I wanted to do either Sailor Moon, Inuyasha, Pokemon, Yugioh, Shaman King, Dragon Ball or Digimon. I went for Digimon in the end. I loved that show when I was a kid that I even had a Garurumon and Greymon toy that I most of the time carried with me lel. Of course, this also counts for the other 'childhood' animes I mentioned early in here as well. Also, the set Ust did of Moomin was a show that I liked back in the days. There are too much options to even choose from lol.

I gave some few effects to both by using LunaPic + basic effect modificator of my computer.

The title is from my most favorite song of Dragon Ball.

Just made a quick set with the lil time I have >< Tales of Phantasia is originally a SNES game from 1994, but it got its own anime in 2004. I rly miss the series as a whole, and Arche Klein is an amazing character, love her personality and looks. As a teen, she was my first online avatar.
