I managed to catch up with the chapters. I must say, I am impressed by the story. Making Arthur a villain is a ballsy move (for now), tho perhaps not very surprising considering Nanatsu's ending. I am really curious as to what happened that made him turn this way.

On chapter 40 itself, it was nice seeing Gowther in action. Too bad Ardberg had to die, but it is what it is. Now I am really looking forward to Percival reaching Liones because I am sure we will get some massive info dump in there.

Love seeing Gowther!I didn't feel attached to this new group except Anne as of the moment. Kinda wishing for the Sins to appear sooner to get me excited reading this manga. But it also worries me because the author might nerf the Sins to hype the current roster of MCs and the enemies. Though I understand if the Sins' casual appearance in the future might overshadow Percival and the others. The homing attack is similar to what happened to Gil attacking Mel. So sad for Ard,hope Anne avenge him.

I have a question,in this 40 chapters,do you think the sins were already surpassed in PL by any of the characters in the sequel bar Arthur??
PL are not that relevant overall unless you are much stronger. But besides Mael who is at the level of the Sin and I guess Nanashi pr there are probably one or two new characters at their level.

Previously, the superiority of 20% of the Power Level made the character practically invulnerable to enemy attacks. And then Nakaba decided to break the logic of his own work, pitting the characters incomparably weaker with those who in the early chapters would have destroyed them with an accidental blow. And there is no reason to believe that the balance will be corrected in the new manga.

The funny thing is that Gauter should be much faster than the attacks of ordinary knights, which are the Chaos Knights. And, accordingly, he must be able to stop both spears. But the plot needed a stupid sacrifice of another newly introduced character.

Title of next chapter: The talisman of darkness.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

A quick summary for you guys while we wait for the English release:
Gowther and the demons see Percy's group off. Sometime later, things get heated between Sin and Anne over her crying about Ardbeg's death. Things finally calm down, and the group arrives at the inextricable forest. It is decided that they attract their pursuers into the forest.

I believe early in NNT Gowther had a strength power level of 500.
When he regained his memories I’m pretty sure it was “only” a magic power increase, so he is still in terms of physical strength the same - which is probably around a upper holy knight level physically. - he was stated by Nerobasta to be a magic type 10 commandment and she instructed lots of soldiers to face him knowing they can deal a lethal blow with their strength which ties into my assumption of his magic power only increase.
What I don’t get is the asspull with power levels and how Meliodas’ power was sealed and he became physically stronger when he regained it, like how do you seal physical strength?
Unless there’s magical reinforcement.

The chapter is out.

All this focus on Sin is strongly hinting that his identity is about to be revealed. The odds of that happening in this arc were already quite good because of how many enemies there are, but this just reinforces that possibility even further. If it turns out that Sin is in fact Lancelot, then this magical forest is actually a very fitting location for his debut, given his background. This upcoming arc might be even better than the previous one.

Do you guys think Sin was actually joking about being 3000 years old?

The separation with Gowther is underwhelming. They know his name so they should know that he is a Sin, but we didn't see them talk much.

Do you guys think Sin was actually joking about being 3000 years old?
Yes. I almost bought it but it can't be the case since he said he could have turned into a baby too.

Not a chance, he was 100% honest. As a matter of fact sin is most likely someone we already know imo.

I'm leaning towards no.
The Lancelot theory is based on mostly the bride he saw I think. If I ignore that, he constantly talks about babysitting like he is so much more older than the group, not to mention his musings about humans. Plus, he is really knowledgeable. Way too knowledgeable for my taste if he is Lancelot for some reason. But he also knows Gowther, so it's like Suzuki keep balancing the theories out.

If he was really 3000 Ard's Magic would have been too slow to affect him.

I am not sure he is Lancelot or a KoA TBH because he seems to be marketed as the mascot of the series but maybe I am overthinking. He is clearly not a fox anyway.

Let’s collect all we know about Sin.
(Maybe a poll later will be fitting)

1) He is presumably older than our group, but maybe he’s just acting old.

2) He personally knows both Gowther and Meliodas, and they have at least semi friendly relationship, and they trust him enough to escort one of the horsemen.

3) He’s not very social but still is very concerned about being a part of something.

4) It’s pretty obvious that it was him who took care of chaos monsters in that village. So he’s pretty strong.

5) He’s somehow connected to bows. And apparently can trow arrows with his tail.

6) Apparently his name tells something even to Annies horse, so he must be someone famous.

Ok, stupid thought!
If Merlin still lives in frozen time, it would have made her vulnerable to de-ageing spell (because she’s physically somewhere around 12 yo), but she is 3000 years old.
But if that would have been the case, I think “The most powerful mage in all Britania” could have dealt with the spell, before entering.

Lmao this panels with anne's reactions....

and i don't think Sin is neccessarily a KNoA..given how gowther seems to be focusing on Pericval for defending the team...Sin is more like a support char and not someone involved with strength/power we know i think.

I guess those who voted "Yes" believe he is not Lancelot?

Read all the chapters till 41! There are so much to talk about. MnYK is doing great in it's first major arc. I praise Nakaba for what he is doing here. Each and every character in Percy's group has had their own focus arc.

A writing challenge for Nakaba is to keep the powerhouses from the good guys out. Guys like Howzer and Gowther are powerful enough to easily break the plot itself.

Speaking of Howzer, he really gives me Escanor vibes. He once dreamed of becoming like Escanor. He has seemingly made that dream come true. :verily

Arthur is now an antagonist. I used to think I'm OK with him being a bad guy, but it was heartbreaking even for me. That kind sweet Arthur turned into a bipolar genocidal racist, and SDS are now his sword enemies. So sad!

I also wonder where Nanashi is at the time being. He was with Arthur 16 years ago as all the depictions and mentions imply, but we have not seen him yet in the current timeline. I hope he is not killed off offscreen. He was a member of GC, and Arthur hates all non-human races.

Sim the fox is without a doubt a great mystery. It does deserve to have a thread of his own. Too much can be said about his possible role and true identity. I personally think he is Lancelot in disguise. He is the Mysterious lad with no Fixed appearance.

I'm leaning towards no.

Iirc, he wanted to act like grown ups in the one THE RAIN FOREST INVITES THE BEGINNING one shot. And he was most probably raised by choas beings like lady of the lake. Even before that, he lived most of his life in the Fairy King's Forest. As a half human who did not live among humans for a long time, it's perfectly normal for Lancelot to have biased ideas about humans even if not he is the fox.

He told Gowther he couldn't enter the cave which means he is not very old. He doesn't have any reason to lie to Gowther, but lying to Ann while trying to make her angry is a different story. The way he sat on Gowther's head in chapter 40 was a childish act in my opinion (obviously subjective!)

The bride can't be ignored so easily. Lancelot's relationship with Guinevere is a major plot points in several Arthurian stories, and Sin saw a bride after the audience were informed about Arthur's bride chapters earlier. Now look at the bride's lips when she called Sin by his true name:

Assuming all three panels are related to the name and that bride does not say another word aside from Sin's name, its name can't be Ban!
Although she isn't exactly saying Lancelot in those panels, it's one the closest words we can think of. His Japanese name isn't exactly Lancelot either. In fact, it turns into Ransurotto. Let's check the brides lips in those three panels then:

1. Ran is said in the first panel
2. N continues in the second panel (her lips are like she's saying M instead of N though!)
3. Either Ro or To in the third panel

I might be mistaken for sure. (There are mismatches between panels and the word Ransurotto, and she might be saying a full sentence instead of a single name!)
But even if we ignore the bride, I think we should search for names or sentences that can be created by such movements of the lips.

It doesn't match his full name but it matches Lance, his nickname, or shortened version of it to be more accurate.

Lance in Japanese becomes "Ransu" ランス

First panel: Ra ラ
Second panel: N ン
Third panel: Su ス

He is referred to as Lance in this panel (leftmost panel, middle row)

If Sin is Lancelot, then I think I have another proof to this theory.
We know that it was Sin who “shot” down enemies, but what if he didn’t shot, but threw those arrows. Then it matches his weapon of choice, a lance (now I get it 😆)
