Only anime and elements of anime that aired in 2015, including anime that aired in fall 2014 and carried over into 2015 (2 cour series), are eligible.

I nominate...

Prison School because that show was surprising in pretty much every way possible.

Shinmai Maou no Testament because the fact that level of ecchi could exist in anime was very surprising to me.

Shokugeki no Soma - It started out as just fan service but I soon got sucked into the AWESOME cooking. Also made me want to cook everything, which was another surprise!

 

[Saniwa]

Mobile Suit Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans for breaking most Gundam stereotyped characters but not straying from the original pattern. The main characters have flaws the size of Gundam but surprisingly not nauseating *gsdcoughcough*

 

[Nii]

Gakkou Gurashi for turning a rather well-trodden moe setting into an intense horror/mystery show.

Danmachi for being surprisingly fun and entertaining, giving us one of the best pairs in 2015, Bell and Hestia x)

Kiseijuu, simply because hardly anyone knew about it because the manga was rather old, and it turned out to be a pretty good show.
