Golden age 288: Once in a Lifetime Illusion
- After Niou misses a shot, Germany evens the score at 2-2. The audience comments that it's just natural for the pros to keep up.
- Niou momentarily drops the illusion. Yagyuu explains that Niou spent a lot of time turning into the high schoolers, all for the sake of becoming Japan's joker. While going through rehab after the G10 matches, Niou kept thinking about ways to help the team and this was his answer. Yagyuu continues that this will be Niou's final match as a trickster.
- Just like in his first service game, Niou goes after Schneider.
- Saying that doubles is played by two people, Bertie eventually helps out his partner, but, agreeing with the remark, so does Duke on the other end. As a result, Japan keeps the upper hand.
- Japan wins the first set 6-3.
- Mifune compliments Niou and Duke on the first set. He also thinks that Germany will show their full strength in the second set. If Niou and Duke can endure the upcoming onslaught, they might have a chance to win.
- The second set starts with Schneider's serve. As Schneider prepares for the toss, he seemingly grows in size, towering over Niou and Duke.
- After Niou is aced, he tells Duke to use a Homerun on the next return. But, Duke is blown away. Duke says the serve is both fast and heavy.
- Niou tries to counter Schneider's serve with the World Techniques. Bertie covers for Schneider, easily returning the attacks.
- Niou says the world is big before launching the Pirates of the World at Bertie.
- At the same time on another court, Spain faces America. Spain has won both S3 and D2.
- Spanish captain Antonio da Medanore says they don't need to waste time on small-fries like the US. He orders Spain's S2 representative to tighten their chokehold and strangle America to defeat. The hooded figure responds affirmatively.
- The American bench is in disarray. Dodo can't believe they're in this pinch. Kiko is upset at Medanore.
- Just then, Ralph steps on the court to take on the decisive match. Dodo objects, saying that Ralph played a tough match against Amadeus just the day before. But, Ralph asks the team to leave this match to him, so that he can protect America's pride and honor.
- Ralph says that he won't let his opponent do whatever he wants, staring down Ryoga across the net.
- Meanwhile, Germany has opened a 3-0 lead in the second set. Bertie apologizes to Japan for giving them the impression that they were on equal footing during the first set.
