Oda's design for Luffy?

I was looking through my shonenjumps and found something intresting
dragonball finished about 2 years before one piece's debut

and since Oda is a big fan of Dragon Ball do you think he used this as a part of luffy's design? This panel looks awfully similar to luffy

But anyway, even though Oda's been a great fan of Dragon Ball, i think it's just a coincident...but hey this is Oda we speaking of, anything could happen ^^.

I see no reason why Oda can't take that design for Luffy. He takes character's looks from a lot of places, why not the main character from an obscure place in his fav manga?

Probably because no one has anything to say about it (particularly this one)?

I mean, Oda could have taken Luffy's design from this guy or not, we don't really know since he never mentioned this. There is a good chance that he did since Oda is a big fan of Dragon Ball but then it might just be coincidence.

This was a nice find anyway.
