I hacked about, but didn't find anything pertaining to this subject. You can remove this if you want. 
So, I felt we needed a thread to discuss creating original characters. Fanart is nice, but I like to see a little creativity every now and again with character designs, and background write-ups. This doesn't necessarily have to pertain to just manga, but it must be your design, not someone else's.
It would also be nice for people to get involved critiquing and suggesting to help others improve their designs and background information.
I'll start it off with a sketch I did late last night. It pretty much stinks, but you get the basic idea. Fire away with the critiques!
