Recently alot of theries have been floating around about a possible connection between the Akatsuki leader and Shoadai. I find these theries extremly possible and in this topic I intend to prove without a doubt that they share a relation to each other. Enjoy!

I do not take credit for finding this theory, but I do take credit for constructing all of the ideas with my own to form this theory.
Introduction
Firstly lets take the akatsuki leader's ability. we know from the manga that he was able to extract shukkaku from Gaara, somthing that no normal person could have done. This ability in turn is extremly similar to Yamato's ability to control bijuu, which derived from Shondai's power.
Analysis
Now, lets identify somthing that i found extremly intresting in the manga when Gaara's body was brought to the Akatsuki leader from shukkaku's extraction.

The Akatsuki statue is made of wood, as you can clearly see. I also noticed that the Akatsuki leader proforms the same hand seals as Shodai AND Yamato when using the Mokuton jutsu. Coincidence?

Now is that a coincidence?
The Valley Of The End
Many people have said that perhaps the Akatsuki leader is one who Shodai fought at the Valley Of The End. I was able to aquire a picture of episdode 134 Screencap.

Shodai is obviously the picture to the right, and the person who he fought is on the left. Now look at it closely and now take a picture of the akatsuki leader.

Although this is an objectionable comparison, look at the hair in the statue. Notice the spikes it has at the back, and then notice how the current picture the Akatsuki leader is spiky. Although they do not look EXACTLY the same in terms of hair, take a look at their stance in the statue picture. They are using the same Jutsu. This could have been a hint from Kishi pointing out a possible corralation between them. The different hair could have just been a haircut? After all the fight at the Valley Of The End was very long ago.
Theory
The Akatsuki leader could be Shodai's son. Before you go on saying that this is "impossible" remember that Tsunade is Shodai's grandaughter. Unless you can become a grandfather without having your children have kids nowadays, this is possible.
Scenario
Shodai's son, having inherited his bloodline limit, attemted to use his power to control bijuu simply so he could have all of their power. Shodai realising the plot, fights him at the valley of the end. Having been defeated, Shodai's son is able to escape. Greatly weekend he withholds his plan for awhile. However, Shodai's death gave him the perfect oppurtunity to continue his dark path with no one left to stop him. To do this, he formed the organization Akatsuki and gathered powerful ninja's to be part of his plan. Impressed by their leaders stength, the ninja vow to follow and serve him.
Orochimaru's Possible Initial Objective
Has anyone ever though that it was strange how Orochimaru experimented to clone Shodai? What motive Orochimaru could have to attempt to clone Shodai? ( which later resaulted in Yamato ). The answer is possible if you have followed the theory up to this point.
Scenario
Sometime while in the Akatskuki, Orochimaru has a plan in hopes of copying the Akatsuki leader's powerful abilites and aquiring all the power for himself. To do this, he aquires cells from Shodai and tries to create clones by using human test subjects. The leader finds out about Orochimaru's plot to clone his ability and he is later kicked out of the Akatsuki.
Conclusion
Now it has been proven that all but one died in the process. The real question is, will Orochimaru continue his initial plan and use Yamato to seek the power of the bijuu? Perhaps it is that ambition that will save Sasuke from being taken over.
