Hi, don't know if anyone started a thread like this before, but I haven't found one on recent so...

The finished one (by Phase 3) I've kept as an example.

How could you manage to change to SFX and fill the lost speedlines? I'm new at this thing, I tried brushing over the Japanese SFX with white and type the translated letter to replace it - but then got stucked with the background of grey and so many speedlines. Wonder if I took the right way.

phase 3 should be helping you with this type of problem, their the experts in this area..

but basically you have to clone and redraw those areas covered w/ SFX(better create a new layer if you're gonna redraw those areas), then create a new layer for the new translated SFX(if not fonts). you have to be familiar with the pen tool to draw over those you cant clone.. and then place each sfx trans letters strategically, like in that sample, so you have to clone and draw minimally..

its basically the same principle with what i did in my sig(koyuki on guitar) below..to make it move, i made a copy of the orig then select the arms and move/rotate them..then clone and drew over the cut/blank space left by the moved hands..pen tool(for accurate selection and lines drawing) familiarity is really necessary..and cloning(copying the surrounding area) of course..

hope this helps...

Hello, Netkid99. I'm the leader of Phase 3. I'll link you up to a site that will help you greatly.

http://www.unblessed.net/guide/main.html

This site has helped a bunch of people learn the tools of the trade when it comes to editing SFX, including myself. Give it a shot.

Also, you shouldn't be trying to edit it with that terrible magazine raw. Try the tankobon page. Much better quality.

Good luck, and have fun.
