It's been interesting reading all these oneshots on manga+ since there's so many types. Before now, I've mostly only read oneshots serialised in WSJ which are almost all pilot chapters testing if reception's good enough to serialise, but with the Jump+ ones you get

- the typical pilot oneshots hoping for serialisation like WSJ
- oneshots just showing off an artist's skill
- oneshots that are just meant to be a short story, a complete thought the author really wanted to tell and is never intended to be a series
- oneshots that feel like they're mostly for giving a newbie author some experience
- and some that are like a summary of an entire series, as if it was rejected for serialisation, but they let the author put something out so it's not a total waste

Lol how random, look at the manga that Gakuto Kajiwara (Asta (Black Clover), Shinra (Fire Force), Allen (ParaLive)) is highlighting on his channel

Wish I could be more sad over this ending so soon, but the NTR chapters ruined it for me

Yeah that was a bafflingly bad move to pull so early on when people are still unsure of whether to follow your series. Author's weird fetishes do often show up in their series, but most of them at least wait until it has a fanbase first. Heck, there's successful series that have been killed off by doing an NTR arc.

Shinewbi (the pun, it hurts) feels like the kind of story that should've stayed a one-shot (you know, the kind where we already got the set-up and the punchline in the first chapter and things just keep repeating after that?). I hope they can do something more interesting with it, but my expectations aren't high.

Eunuch of Empire is, um, special? Can't say I'm a big fan of the harem stuff, but I do like mysteries, so l'll keep following it a bit longer.

Some of them are really experimental, too.

But then that also goes for the series on there.

That was fast.

Pity, I kinda liked the main characters. The bloodlines stuff felt unnecessary though.

Are the J+ views for DQ still as good as they were a few months ago?

I still follow the series but kind of tuned out eventually from all the fandom stuff with how annoying certain people online were being about it. Good cover, anyway. Nomamoto is such a smash hit of a character design for me it's not even funny. It'll be interesting seeing what sales are like when it drops.

I just checked and the last chapter has more views than Ruri Dragon and Centuria. Also, most of the previous chapters have over a million views. I'm genuinely surprised it's maintained this level of popularity after the initial controversy died down (although I dropped it because I find it boring).

The thing about series getting more casual attention is that lot of casual fans don't read a lot of manga, and don't just randomly check out new stuff to see if it's interesting or not, they read what they've heard about. So when something does get their attention (even through controversy) they tend to stick with it even after everything dies down or if it drops in quality.

Just look at the amount of people who were hate-reading Bleach or Naruto for years.

Waiting For The Sunlight is going on hiatus until April.
Shame it's one of my favorites in the magazine right now.

Speaking of favorites, how would you guys rank what you're currently reading from Jump+? To be honest, I much prefer the lineup to WSJ.

Some of these (especially the ones under a volumes worth of chapters) are subject to change. But currently I'd rank mine as

Great
1. Chainsaw Man
2. Centuria
3. Bug Ego
4. Dandadan
5. Waiting For The Sunlight
6. Darkest Corners Of The World
7. Wild Strawberry
8. Ghost Fixers
9. Ruri Dragon (I'm counting it)

Really Good
10. Choujin X (I'm counting it)
11. Love Is Overkill
12. Night Light Hounds
13. Kunigei
14. Eunuch Of Empire
15. The Marshal King
16. Empyreal Cabinet
17. Astro Baby
18. Drama Queen
19. Urban Legend Files
20. Monochrome Days

Pretty Good
21. Yattara
22. Shinewbi
23. MAD
24. Magilumiere Co. LTD.
25. Insect Girl

Good
26. Darling's Vanishing Act
27. Sirens Won't Sing For You
28. Hero Organization

Mediocre
29. Stellar Friends
30. Lunatic Terrapop
31. Strikeout Pitch
32. Ryoto Killed His Brother
33. Asura's Verdict

I don’t have nearly that many under my belt, but I am reading a handful that I could rank. I don’t dislike any of them, but some are definitely more notable than others.

Great
1. Centuria
2. Dandadan
3. Spy x Family
4. Kaiju no. 8

Good
5. Bug Ego
6. Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc. (I’m still 40 chapters behind)
7. Kindergarten WARS
8. The Marshall King (a tad early to judge)

Aight
9. Oversleeping Takahashi
10. Sirens Won’t Sing For You

It’s naturally easier for the older series to rank higher, but basically everything above “Aight” I have some notable emotional investment in.
