We've known about the curse since the mist battle in the ring arc, but there is still a lot we don't know. Some have speculated that they were cursed to take on the forms of babies. Some think it has something to do with the pacifiers.
I would like to draw your attention to the photo of Colonello and Lal Mirch on page 2 of chapter 146.

The time at which this photo was taken is not clear, and there are two possibilities. First, this was taken before they were cursed turned into babies, assuming the baby transformation theory. Second, the photo was taken during the 10 year period in between the future and the present.
Let's discuss the latter first, if this is true then we must take two other things to be true. First, that the Arcobaleno age. This should be fairly obvious from the photo. In the present they are babies, in the future they are adults. Second, that they age at an accelerated rate. If they were truly babies in the present, then they would only be about 11 or 12 years old in the future, yet they appear as adults in their late 20's.
There is some doubt to this possibility however. Lal Mirch said of herself that the reason for her aging was due to the deaths of the other Arcobaleno. So if the others had survived, she would still have appeared as a baby. However, if she and Colonello were the last two, it is possible that he was able to live long enough to age and have his picture taken.
Now let's discuss the possibility of the picture being taken before the curse. For this, I would like to direct you once more to the above photo. I noticed recently, thanks to a comment by Raijatsu, that there are no scars around her eyes in this picture. The scars in the future nearly surround her right eye, and they are not there. I had thought that they were the result of the radiation, but Raijatsu pointed out that she had the scars in the present as well.

Lal is shown several times on the above page, and the scars are clearly there. If the baby Lal mirch has the scars, and her future adult self has the same scars, yet there is a picture of her as an adult without the scars, then it would make sense that there was a time before she was a baby where she was an adult and did not have those scars. In other words, before she was a baby, she was an adult.
