Hi! I'm "centimetre".
My likes include NARUTO, drawing, and getting "thank you" comments on my translations here. *_*
My dislikes include waiting for NARUTO chapters to come out, especially if they're later than usual.
My hopes are to... one day become super-cool! And do everything really well. (Impossible T_T)

I know, I know, I'm just another Naruto translator. Ah, well, what I hope to bring to mangahelpers is a translation that is a) FAST! b) in normal English, and c) very close to the original text. I started translating because I'd be wasting time waiting around for translations to show up, anyway... Also, I didn't want to translate using that strange, choppy English that Inane scanslations were plagued with back when those were The Source. Before I started translating, I didn't really follow the NARUTO manga, but I did enjoy downloading the occasional raw. At that time, my favorite translations were the ones by Nihongaeri. The language was superb! Nihongaeri's translations, however, were a bit on the liberal side (nothing wrong with that, I adore liberal translations. In fact, that's why I buy the VIZ editions... >_>). I just always thought it'd be nice to have an as-close-to-literal translation available as well, but one that was in plain English! (Well, anyway, that's my excuse.)

Ah, I wonder if anyone will comment on here? Maybe not...

*waits patiently* :tem

Hello, centimetre! :amuse First of all, I want to thank you for all the translations you've made. Yours is one of the quickest I see after the raw pops out. Now, for typical questions asked to translators (it's bound to happen):

1. How long have you taken Japanese lessons before you started translating?
2. If you are not translating Naruto, what other manga would you translate?

Err, that's it for now.

1. I took Japanese for a year in 9th grade (when I was 13-14). I didn't do too great of a job of learning it, though, apparently... since I never learned all of the kana (I still don't know a lot of katakana), or the days of the week, and stuff. I never managed to grasp a lot of the grammar points either... (was I even paying attention? wtf.) Er... yeah, it's been 4 years since I last took any Japanese, so I haven't gotten any better. =_=;;; I watched a sizeable chunk of the NARUTO anime recently, though... (with subs) So I guess that makes it easier to translate NARUTO?

2) Ah, I probably couldn't translate anything other than NARUTO. The language used in NARUTO is ridiculously simple (except the stuff Orochimaru says... and the annoying side-captions...) Hehe.

Thanks, Centimetre, for getting these translations done so quickly!

1) Do you think that if a translator was to translate Naruto for a long time, that he would start to be able to read other series, though?

2) Would you like to go to Japan sometimes? Where do you live?

3) When did you start drawing, and particularly Naruto characters? (Just checked your DA out, awesome stuff! I'm impressed.)

Have fun here at MH :)
