Just wondering if anybody is a big fan of Mega Man or Mega Man X games here! ( Or Rock Man, as Mega Man may be known as in other countries. )

It's been one of my favorite franchises since I first played the Nintendo. I'm usually more of a RPG guy, but I've absolutely loved the gameplay (for the most part) of the series featuring the adventures of the Blue Bomber! ;)

And it's always kind of fun to see what they'll come up with next as far as Mega Man's enemies. Quick Man, Metal Man, Gemini Man, Shadow Man, Pharaoh Man, Skull Man, and so on.

The Mega Man X franchise took the series to higher heights, though, but the plot can be a little wacky at times. The graphics are great, though.

There's also some pretty cool and funny Mega Man webcomics on the internet out there. If anybody's interested, I'll hunt the links down and post sometimes.

If you guys haven't played any Mega Man games before, I recommend either the Mega Man Anniversary Collection or Mega Man X Collection games, both available for the PS2 ( I'm unsure if they're available for other systems. )

Oh, and if you're a fan of Mega Man NT Warrior, that's cool too, but I don't know anything about that incarnation of him.

Re: Mega Man Thread!

I find that the Mega Man games are great, but not for those who don't want a challenge. The X games are some of the hardest games you will ever play, and get progressively harder the higher you go (Excluding the subpar X6). If you can't get through the X games, you shouldn't even look at the Mega Man Zero games; they will kick your ass starting from the first mission of the first game, and only Zero 4 has an easy mode. The newest Mega Man series, ZX tones down the difficultly level and includes a Metroidvania style overworld, and makes for a good starting point for newcomers to the Mega Man series.

I haven't played the Battle Network series, or the Legends series (Which includes The Misadventures of Tron Bonne) though I've heard that they are good yet are underrated. Nor have I played X7 or X8, Command Mission, Mega Man and Bass, or Network Transmission.

Concerning the Mega Man Collections, they are available on all three last-gen consoles, though the best version of the Anniversary Collection (Mega Man 1-8) is the one on the Gamecube because it includes a series retrospective in addition to the other great extra content. The X Collection (X1-X6) is equally good on all platforms, though it includes little extra outside of the games.

Finally, if you want to read a funny Mega Man comic, start with the first, www.bobandgeorge.com (It came out BEFORE 8-Bit Theater), which does a great job of creating alternate storylines for the classic mega man games and original storylines with sprite recycling. There's nearly seven years of daily content to read, so it will take a little time to get through the end.

Re: Mega Man Thread!

I freaking love Mega Man! One of my top three favorite video game franchises of all time. (The others being Final Fantasy and Zelda.)

I have played all versions of the Mega Man games. My favorite Mega Man games are Mega Man 3 and Mega Man X, I think those two are CLEARLY above the rest.

I have to say, if you have never tried out Mega Man Battle Network, give it a shot, they're a lot of fun, though quite different from the other Mega Man games. It's a little RPGish, but then again, not really. Mega Man Zero is another great series, and for those who complain that the Mega Man games are too easy, I suggest you give this series a try. It's VERY hard. Especially the first game. (If you can find it anyway.)

Both Mega Man Collection games are great, I suggest them to everyone, cheap way to get a hold of it. Of course, they aren't in stores anymore, but places like Amazon.com and Target.com have them usually for a pretty good price.

I'm such a Mega Man freak, I even own the cartoon on DVD! I know! I know! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!

And like a previous post said... bobandgeorge.com enough said. Sadly, it's coming to an end soon, but I think he's going to make it available to download, so yay! Anyway, check it out!

Anyway, I think that's enough out of me.

Yeah, www.bobandgeorge.com is the one I would have recommended. There's a few others, but I don't have the links right now. If I come across them I'll be sure to tell you, zypher.

Re: Mega Man Thread!

I remember playing Mega Man X on the snes. It was fun but hard as hell. After tons of hours of playing that game I finished it though. For some reason Mega Man has always been one of my favorite games, maybe the simple gameplay, not sure.

The beginning of that game can be a real drag. But even worse when you play the game on the PC and have to use the keyboard, heh. After falling thru the gaps one too many time, I decided the game was just better played with a controller and gave up.

The rest of the game wasn't too hard though, when you get powered up.

Yeah, I used to write down the passwords. It was a lot like the old Castlevania games, heh. But with the Collection editions there's no real need anymore - it's all memory cards now.

Heh... Although here where I am, it's more known by it's Japanese name --> Rockman

Heh.. I've been playing this game since the era of Dr. Willy to Sigma.

Re: Mega Man Thread!

Ah, that's true. I'll change the title thread to Megaman / Rockman to encourage more discussion.

Heh, and I was just looking for a good Mega Man image to add to the first post too, and used the cover from Rockman III.

If anybody finds any better images, let me know.

I'm sure playing it on the PC sucks, but on the SNES is awesome, I'm actually very fond of the first stage.

Oh, just tell me what kind of Mega Man image you want, I'll find one for you.

Just something cool and big (650 width) and possibly one that could have both the original Mega Man and Mega Man X in it. Don't have to worry about it too much though.

I do like Mega Man X, possibly playing it on the PC might've soured me on the first stage though. I did beat Mega Man X in like two days the first time I played it.

I always wished a Mega Man game would come out where it'd take days and days to finish it. (And no, not the Collection games, heh.)

Alright, some questions:

1. Favorite Mega/Rock Man power/upgrade? (Not one that's taken from one of the Robot Masters)
2. Favorite Robot Master?
3. Favorite "stolen" power? ( From one of the Robot Masters )
4. Favorite stage?
5. Favorite game?

1. The rush adapter in Mega Man 7, you're SUPER MEGA MAN!
2. Shadow Man, he's just bad ass
3. Ballade Cracker, From Mega Man 4 on the GB, it's super powerful and can be shot in any direction
4. Too tough to pick
5. Mega Man 3, it's also my favorite game of all time.

Sometime ago I really enjoyed Megaman X series from 1 to 6 ^^ It's really good action platform game and that upgrades to main hero, as well as a character like Zero, yeah that was which took me into it to play this. Maybe someday i will play farther games with Megaman X on PS2 :x Megaman X rocks ^^

Technically you get to play with Zero in X3. Of course, you never get to use him too much, and X gets so powerful the only reason you'd use Zero is to save X's energy during a part you find hard.
