Right, let's get this show started then.

Fruits Basket. Where do I start, well I suppose it is a series a good number of people have heard/come across at some point or the other of their lives. I learned about the series a few years ago (Maybe 2?), and it got a remake last year. Good timing, since I was able to finally see what all the fuss was about.

The main character of the series is called Honda Tohru. Honestly, she is quite possibly the best character in the series. Also, would make a stunning wife. Why is that?
There are the obvious reasons. Such as her being cute:

And being extraordinarily good with animals:

This one is important, because she is a cat person. Cats are statistically proven to be the best pets to have in the house, so Honda is born in the Year of the Dog, but she changes her year to the one for the Cat.

She's also good with other animals, of course. Such as water horses, tigers and boars


Then, there are the deeper, underlying reasons. Take for example, how she interacts with Yuki. From the first moment she meets him and learns the truth about him, she:

Before Tohru came into the Sohma lives, Yuki was closed off, depressed, basically a vessel of a person, putting on a facade of what he thought people wanted and not who he actually is. She came into his life and provided unconditional kindness, love and affection.
In Yuki’s eyes, he was still a child because he didn’t know how to grow up, he had no guidance, he didn’t know who he was, he had no idea how to function in the real world. Tohru helped him find himself. Tohru guided him, helped him open his heart to a world that betrayed him over and over again through his youth. She was the driving force behind Yuki’s growth. She was the reason he was actually able to be comfortable with himself and learn to love someone.

In general, a truly astounding character. Sure she has her own short comings like being ditzy at times:

But she would be a brilliant partner. Friend. Spouse. Everything. Because she is just that awesome

What makes a great waifu?​

It's the ancient old question that has causes heartbreak, war and possibly a saltier question than the dead sea. Perhaps one might suggest that there is no answer. However I believe that this can be easily solved by doing a simple comparison between these two waifu's. As stated by Professor Utonium, perfect girls have three important elements, namely sugar, spice and everything nice (Utonium, 1998), So why not use this same formula to find the perfect waifu.

So who is Mary? Mary is a pokemon trainer, and later climbs up to be a gym leader.

She's a representative of the Spikemuth gym - the gym where trainers can fight for the dark badge.
Her fanclub follows her around, and with good reason. She's a calm and kindhearted person, that despite the competition respects her opponents. She even goes out of her way to help her rival out. Mary's a bit shy, but just like her adorable pokemon Morpeko definitly she isn't always an angelic human being. Something we can also spot in her awesome looks.

One can go on and on about this waifu, but Mary is a waifu that doesn't need much explanation. Just look at her.

Tohru has two of these elements. She's kind and hardworking. But perhaps Tohru's flaws are that she is too kind. Someone that probably cares more about pleasing others rather than looking after herself. Mary is someone who looks after herself. She's capable enough to present herself as a great friend, rival and waifu in the process.

So the conclusion is clear. Vote for Mary~

Goodness gracious why do you put before a difficult choice?
