Good start. I have been mostly indifferent to Kagami during the whole series, the other GOM members outshine him and he is like an inferior Aomine. He has some good interactions with certain characters but he is mostly a gifted player there to support Kuroko so that he can defeat the GOM players.

Kagami is a plot-device in the form of a character. He literally exists to somehow help fulfill Kuroko's dream/way of Basketball. Is he good at basketball? Yes. Is he good enough to defeat the GoM? No. Does he cooperate perfectly with Kuroko to win against stronger opponents thus showing teamwork > being alone? That was the initial idea, but it's not really used much. Most of the time it isn't teamwork but weird powerups he gets that make him do amazing feats he shouldn't be capable of because the author couldn't overcome the power he set on his other characters with teamwork alone.

Midorima too strong? Kagami is actually amazing at jumping. Okay.
Aomine too strong? Kagami can also enter the zone due to friendship, and somehow surpass Aomine with his zone due to friendship letting him stay in the zone "for longer". Uh.. alright.
Murasakibara too strong, and Kagami is playing bad because he's relying on the zone to come and help him? Good thing they slap him awake for him to stop relying on it and... oh he's in the zone now again, alright.
Kise too strong? LUL dw we'll just nerf Kise so he can play for like 5 minutes only.
Akashi too strong? Kagami can reach the ultra mega zone!

To hell with Kagami.

It's perfectly warranted, as I really think it all could've been a lot better but the way it ended up being it was all on convenient Kagami powers to save the day every time.

I wasn't too bothered by his skills. As someone who followed KnB through the anime I think it really got worse when abilities became more nonsensical and it peaked at Kaijo VS Touou.

I just didn't find him entertaining most of the time and his dynamic with Kuroko isn't great compared to all the other GoM players. Rather than Kagami, I blame the writing for the power ups.

Aomine, Kise and Akashi are the most popular characters in KnB IIRC. 1 of these 3 might make it to number 1

Murasakibara next huh, not too surprised by this.

Personally I liked the contrast between his laziness and his hunger to win. His moment in the movie was one of my favorites.
