I actually enjoyed Australian song, but i have no clue why Australia is in Eurovision.

I think they were basically invited as a special thing for whatever anniversary it was (I remember bc it was when Sweden hosted), because they're the country outside of Europe with the longest history of broadcasting the contest, and highest interest in it. Then they just kinda were allowed to keep sending entries because they generally did so well, I guess?

For the record I also didn't dislike Australia, it's in my top 15 or 20 I think. The song is kinda too loose and feels like an improvised number from a musical or sth but the guy has a great tone to his voice so I can't help get kinda drawn in to it.

Oh that's not so bad too actually.

Fun thing, when I started rating I have given Ukraine 5/10 as benchmark because I found it very avarge and then the next song was Austria, which I rated strictly worse with a 4/10. Then quickly realized that most following songs were in the same range and it made no sense to weed out the trash, just try to look for some that are a little better. So I ended up ranking Austria back to 5 No song made it past 7/10, so the whole rating system till ten was pretty pointless

Austria is an okay bop, nothing super special but it's danceable and energetic. The singer is not hitting the notes at all in the live clips I've seen though...

Same issue with Belgium, I really liked the studio version on first listen and placed it high but then looked at some live clips and realized just how much the song rides on really nailing the vocals (which, unfortunately, he doesn't outside of the studio).

Montenegro is a tad too melodramatic for my taste but she's a good singer and the instrumentation is good.

Like I said earlier, I kinda like Australia, much thanks to the vocals. And I like his outfit (he's nice to look at overall).

Ireland is just not for me. I'd turn it off if it came on the radio (and it's the kind of song I imagine the radio will overplay).

Croatia's is one of the most cookie-cutter ones imo. Totally uninteresting from start to finish. In my bottom 5.
That goes for Malta too. Suuuuper repetitive lyrics, uninspired chord progressions and nothing to make it stand out musically. These two songs I feel like I've heard a thousand times before.

I was probably harsh on Australia, gave it a 4.2/10, but it's not too bad on repeat listens (tbh my t10 would change a bit right now given I've listened to them several times, not just once). Agree tho Erin idk how we got there but Orgz explained it, think we kept showing up so they kindly let us in (maybe 10 yrs ago?). Went close to choosing Montenegro, sounded good but it had less staying power.

Austria‘s one I ignored at first listen-through, but it‘s actually pretty decent and catchy.
