but in the end it was a non-starter because I decided I wasn't sure I'd actually call them a "villain"-villain after all, and mostly I wanted to be a little unconventional, so didn't go down that route after all.

Maybe if we tell @FaustXIII "this is a major spoiler" he'll put those in spoiler tags, and as for those who open the tags without being entirely up to date on the series... well, tough?

Might disappoint you – that series we usually share on our list had me torn between two certain characters... went with pure "favorite" over the "most villainous" in that case.

I wonder if I will have picked the character you are thinking of.

For me, I also went with how interesting, rather than how moustache-twistingly evil, the characters were - for some, I actually removed a character I prefer, in favour of a different one (purely due to them fitting the theme better, being more memorable, etc.)

I had to get rid of around half of the list I had made initially, but I'm not too sad with those that remain.
It was certainly far easier to remove characters this time than those from the previous 'animated but not anime' round.
