I love this film so much - and yeah, I guess that, in relation to the other Ghibli films, this film tends to find itself overshadowed by some of the other entries.

Nice pick there bud!

And aye, I also was rather confused to see Wall-E (not that I dislike the film, but I've never heard anyone utter a bad word about it/not praise it highly enough)

A small part of me wonders if this round won't just end up as a running list of all the Ghibli films not starting with となりの, 千と, 天空の, or もののけ

Tbh I haven't checked movies myself in so much time... Been rarely doing it. Having sessions with Oli is a great way to check some things I've never seen, as well as go nostalgic on the ones I did decades ago.

Nice @Brandish, I always try to take every opportunity to recommend this film to animation fans. One of my favorites. But maybe all that plugging it to people made myself think it's not actually that underappreciated. Well, I did consider it for the list until the very end, but went with another related to it which gets even less love, so.

An American Tail is underappreciated? Man, maybe it just had a really great home release in Sweden because almost everyone my age that I know had it on VHS and remembers it super fondly.

The Secret of NIMH is one of my favorite animated films for sure. But I've also seen it get a lot of love in these Top 10 games so I didn't really consider it for this round...

Oh, Anastasia has the same deal as An American Tail for me. It's popular enough to be constantly mistaken for a Disney film and even called people's "favorite Disney film" so I could never consider it underappreciated. But it's good for sure!

When Marnie Was Here and From Up on Poppy Hill are definitely two of the most underrated Ghibli films. Poppy Hill especially gets way too much flack, that film actually made me forgive Goro Miyazaki for the insult to Ursula K. Le Guin which was Tales of Earthsea, something I wasn't sure I ever would. So yeah.

. It was till great and interesting as usual , huge thxs too, to everyone who joined this.
I had a lot of issues making this list, and only long after remembered some movies !

Persepolis and Kirikou were both movies i ve considered adding and ended up removing them, should maybe have kept them, both are great picks. (also its question of perspective i know its depending where we are and on the moment we ve watched it, if something is or not overrated/underrated, but Persepolis and especially Kirikou were really very popular here in France, thats was one of the reason i ve chosen to not to add them, maybe i should have considered stuff from a more "global" eye)

Kaguya and Whisper of the heart are two of my favorite Ghibli films. Actually make that animated films over all. Maybe they're underappreciated - in that case I regret not putting them on my list... even though I'm glad Anomalisa won and hopefully someone will watch it thanks to this.
