The films I considered, so far (the ones that made it to my top 30 in bold): Snowpiercer, They Live, The World's End, RoboCop, The Fifth Element, Aliens, Metropolis, Jurassic Park, A Clockwork Orange, Mad Max: Fury Road, Ex Machina, The Iron Giant, E.T., Arrival, Brazil

Films I didn't consider but totally should've: Lilo & Stitch, Solaris, Melancholia, The Truman Show, Men in Black


Arrival was on my top 10 for so long, but don't know how it holds up on a second viewing since I only saw it once, when it came out. It left a very lasting impression on me, though. Superb film.

EDIT: Brazil was actually the very last one I switched out. Glad it got pretty high anyway.

Never saw The Martian simply because the book is so brilliant I just felt no need to watch the film. Probably should, though.
