Damn straight I did!

Kenpachi is great. Purity of concept. He was so simple. Just a guy who loved to fight in a battle manga. It was a match made in heaven. All the drama or complicated stuff didn't effect him. He was just a warrior. The Unohana stuff give him a boost and turned him into a more of a full character too. He had so many great moments all because he lived to fight.

Not kill mind you, that's the important distinction with him. Killing and dying was the price that had to be paid for the joy that was battle for him.

Just like with Kyouraku, I think Kubo tried a bit too hard with him. I usually like combat fanatics, but he was a miss for me. I don't dislike him though.

Had we stopped 3 people before, the order would be quite different
Had we stopped 10 before, the order would be completely different...

Ranks 2 - 5 are separated by only 5 points (and the 1st place wasn't in 1st place a few nominations prior to the final one...)

I'm pretty fsking happy that I didn't count the votes manually, but instead used Excel to automate the scores

That's actually makes me excited to see top 5..

I mean that alone means he was no warrior. A warrior would live to fight, win and die by a reason. Kenpachi just loved clashing swords. He was a battle brute, not much else.

His eyepatch was a cool detail, since it sort of introduced "power beyond perception" kind of concept to the story. I think he got completely stuck post-Nnoitra fight, though.

That's what a warrior is. He just didn't give a shit about anything else. He's like the norse ideal of a warrior. He and Unohana would be right at home in Valhalla where killing each other every day IS thier version of heaven. That's what made him great, IMO. Purity of purpose.

I actually just hate that entire fight. It was a total slog and just wouldn't stop.

Zaraki went from killing 3 Quincy to near death thanks to Yhwach. Gotta love the transitions.

Aah Rukia - a female character that stayed pretty strong throughout the story
She was never meant to be a powerhouse and never needed to become one [thankfully Kubo either agreed, or forgot about her, so he didn't end up fucking her up like that]

I loved her banter with Ichigo
Her dealings with Urahara
Her conflicted relationship with her brother
Her zanpakuto's aesthetic and abilities
Her eventual breakdown [after putting on a brave face] in front of Gin...

It was all good

Although not on the Rukia-Ichigo bandwagon, I still bought their 'relationship' (or whatever they had) over the Orihime-Ichigo one

She was the main focus of the best arc of the manga - and, although I didn't vote for her (as I do prefer [at least] 10 other characters over her), I reckon she's well deserving of her spot in the final 10

I have always been rather indifferent to Rukia. I kinda understand why she is popular but I never really cared much about her as a character.

Ah Rukia, she's the one I picked over Nel.

Like Zim said, she's the focus of the best arc of the story and a really likable character all around. She also handled being the heroine of the story much better than Orihime did when it was her turn. My only real gripe with her is that the whole Ichigo saving her thing was such a strong storyline but would become 500% stronger if the Ichigo X Rukia ship happened. That was the only appeal that ship ever really had for me aside from the good banter. As a stepping stone into a romance that would have been glorious.

After that she stayed semi-relevant but never again felt like a true "main character". Which is a bit regrettable but I always liked when she showed up.

Her fight with Aaroniero was rather nice. One of the better, more underrated fights in Hueco Mundo.
